After traveling several days to the gathering site Garret and the others went inside a commercial container. He looked around and realized that there were no other known faces besides Mary. Everybody inside was as young as himself. Everything went too fast and his father made a quick nod, turned his back and disappeared.
"Are you okay Garret?" Mary said.
"Just nervous, even though we trained for this moment."
"This is bigger than us and our families Garret. We are necessary sacrifices to the survival of humanity."
"I know. We cannot consume Xemx technology and survive without the merging phase."
They heard a big thump outside the container and felt being lifted with a hard acceleration. Everybody could not stay on their feet and collapsed to the steel floor. The aliens removed them from the container, to some ill lit alien corridor. Tall figures, in heavy armor, tossed them around to what it seemed individual boxes full of wiring.
Garret felt like thousand needles puncturing all over his body. A mouth tubing blocked his breathing and he fainted when he was about to scream. Flashes of memories slipped through his unconscious mind followed by strange visions of otherworldly landscapes.
