Humanity's radio signals escaped into the void for more than a century, and for our despair, Pemakan probes in our neighboring stars intercepted it. One middle tier Pemakan officer noticed it. They searched for intelligent life and every year found it by the dozens. Experienced officers, like Khalid Taubec found out about our little speck of dust called Earth, they could do as they pleased with it, invade, pulverize, observe, well, anything really. Every officer had his own armada ready to deploy. Khalid went home, kissed his wife and daughter and told them about the recent findings. It fascinated Ivy. She wanted to be a Chef of Cuisine when the proper age comes.

"Father, please, can I have this little rock as a gift in return of my outstanding academic performance?"

"all right, all right Ivy. What do you want to do with it, honey?"

He explained to her the details about Earth, ecology, ruling species, human biology and so on.

"They must taste yummy!" Ivy licked her lips.

"They are, for their bodies are rich in protein, fats and Calcium, a good mix."

"I can see already my future restaurant full of customers going nuts to taste the flavors of these aliens."

And that is how we sealed our fate, to become Pemakan's delicatessen sold in ordinary cans.

"Is that what happened, really?" Bobby said.

"That's what I've heard son, but who knows?"

Braden patted Bobby's back laughing.

"Are you going to bed now dear?" Gina said.

"Can do mom. Do you sleep in my bed with me too?"

"Yes, darling."

"All right Sir, no more talking, everyone to bed now!" Braden said.

They turned off their only available light bulb in the whole house and locked the room door. Electricity was scarce and kept to a minimum by the invaders.
