CUT TO:
INT. RAMONA'S DORM ROOM – DAY
Ramona wakes to her alarm. Her laptop is open next to her on the bed, the word document not in sight. Instead, a cat video is playing on Youtube. She checks her alarm: 3 P.M. She's late again. She checks her laptop, sees the empty document, and groans.
RAMONA: Motherfucker!
She gets up and rushes out the door.
CUT TO:
INT. SALLY'S SANDWICH SHOP – DAY
Haley is handing a customer their order. Ramona rushes in, breathlessly.
HALEY: (smiling) Thank you! Come again soon.
Haley sees Ramona. Her smile disappears.
HALEY: Late. Again.
RAMONA: (frustratedly) I know, I know, I'm sorry.
Haley opens her mouth to speak.
SIMON: Just drop it, Hales. It's only been fifteen minutes.
Haley rolls her eyes and takes off her apron.
HALEY: (under her breath) Fifteen minutes of my life I'll never get back.
She thrusts the apron to Ramona and bumps her on her way out.
RAMONA: (defeatedly, softly) Sorry...
Simon sighs.
SIMON: Are you okay, Mones?
Ramona puts on the apron and nods.
SIMON: You don't seem to be.
RAMONA: It's nothing.
Ramona clocks in. Simon gets up and exits the kitchen.
SIMON: (smiling) So what was the big news?
RAMONA: Nothing. It's not a big deal.
SIMON: It is if you came running here six hours before your shift, Ramona.
Ramona sighs.
RAMONA: It's nothing.
SIMON: If there's an it, then it's not—
Ramona glares at him.
RAMONA: Please just let me work in peace.
Simon is silent. He looks at her, then sighs.
SIMON: Okay. Okay. I'll leave you to it. If you want to talk, you know where to find me.
