Ramona is sitting on a stool behind the counter, resting her head on her palm. She opens her phone and checks if Simon's texted. He hasn't.
Ramona quickly types a message.
Hey, how's it going?
She watches the message send and impatiently waits for a reply. A customer taps the bell on the counter.
RAMONA: Oh, shit. Sorry. Hi, welcome to Sally's Sandwich Shop! May I take your order?
CUT TO:
EXT. SALLY'S SANDWICH SHOP – NIGHT
Ramona is closing up shop with the new cook, Chloe. Ramona pulls the key from her pocket and tosses it to Chloe. Ramona goes back to wiping the tables.
CHLOE: What's with you and that Simon guy?
RAMONA: Huh?
CHLOE: Haley was telling me about you guys. Are you a thing?
Ramona scratches the back of her head. She's eager to leave so she can catch up with filming and see Simon.
RAMONA: Honestly, I don't know.
CHLOE: But you like him.
RAMONA: I—
CHLOE: There's no use in lying to me, girl. I'm not gonna tell him.
Ramona sighs. She goes back to wiping the table.
RAMONA: Yeah, I guess.
Chloe laughs.
CHLOE: You guess?
Ramona shrugs. Chloe tilts her head.
CHLOE: I may be new here but I'm not stupid. Is he the reason you looked stress the whole day?
Ramona is silent. Chloe shakes her head.
CHLOE: Men ain't shit.
Ramona looks at her.
RAMONA: You're not quite what I expected.
CHLOE: Haley said the same thing.
Ramona smiles.
RAMONA: I'm glad you work here now.
Chloe shrugged.
CHLOE: Happy to be here, I guess.
They smile at each other.
