INT. RAMONA'S DORM ROOM – DAY
After securing a filming permit from the office, Leo, Ramona, Amelia, Simon, and the rest of the crew are filming in Ramona's room. Amelia is laying on her bed, following Leo's directions, while Simon sits at the foot of it. Ramona is watching silently behind the camera when her phone vibrates in her pocket.
INCOMING CALL
MOM
She exits the open door and answers the call.
RAMONA: Mom?
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Hi honey. How are you doing?
RAMONA: I'm doing... alright. You?
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Better. My loan got approved and I have a job interview tomorrow.
RAMONA: That's great, mom!
RAMONA'S MOTHER: What about you? What have you been up to?
Ramona pauses.
RAMONA: Oh. Um, we're actually in the middle of filming.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Filming?
RAMONA: For this competition? I wrote a script and my co-worker, Simon, he got his filmmaker friends involved and all that.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Oh, that's wonderful, honey!
Ramona beams.
RAMONA: Yeah, I'm really excited. Winner gets to go to Italy for a screening. They also win a cash prize.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: How much?
RAMONA: About a thousand.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: (excitedly) A thousand! You'll do great, Ramona. You've got this in the bag.
RAMONA: I hope so.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Alright, honey, I gotta go. I'll call you later, alright?
Ramona nods.
RAMONA: Bye mom. I love you. Take care.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Love you too. Bye.
Ramona is about to head back in her room when Simon appears.
SIMON: Hey.
RAMONA: Oh, hey. You're—
SIMON: Yeah, quick break.
Ramona nods. She peers into the room, where Amelia is sitting on her bed, being spoken to by Leo. Ramona looks at Simon.
RAMONA: You're doing well.
SIMON: I'm holding up, if that's what you mean.
They both laugh.
SIMON: Do you want to go for a walk?
RAMONA: Oh, um—
Ramona looks behind Simon, where Amelia and Leo are nodding. Leo turns around and gestures for her to come over.
RAMONA: Leo's calling us.
SIMON: Oh. Yeah.
They walk back inside.
SIMON: I mean after. Do you want to go for a walk?
Ramona glances at him.
RAMONA: Huh? Oh, sure, yeah.
Leo claps his hands together.
LEO: Alright guys, are you ready to start shooting?
SIMON: Do I have a choice?
Leo laughs and pats Simon's shoulder. Amelia and Ramona laugh nervously.
LEO: Funny guy. Let's go.
Ramona moves to reclaim her place behind the camera as Amelia and Simon take their places. Leo stands next to her.
LEO: Oh, Ramona, do you mind if we go over some changes to the script later?
RAMONA: Oh, sure, yeah.
She crosses her arms. Leo turns to Amelia and Simon.
LEO: Okay, we're rolling!
