CUT TO:
The e-mail is loading on Leo's phone. Haley, Simon, and Ramona are looking over his shoulder.
Dear Mr. Hawthorne,
We regret to inform you that...
Haley, Simon, and Leo let out a sigh. Ramona blinks at the screen. Leo turns to look at her.
LEO: Better luck next time, I guess?
Haley rubs Ramona's shoulder.
HALEY: I'm sorry, Mones...
Simon looks at Ramona, a concerned expression on his face. Ramona manages a small smile.
RAMONA: It's fine. I don't think it was meant to be.
They all look at her.
RAMONA: You guys, think about it. I finished a script. We made a movie. Never in a million years did I think I could have ever been a part of anything like that. We did all that because—through everything—you all believed in me. In my dream.
Simon starts to smile.
RAMONA: I know that sounds absolutely ridiculously cheesy, but I think that's enough for me. (pause) I always thought I was destined for something more. This is just my first taste of it.
Leo chuckles.
LEO: (to Simon) Does she always speak like that?
SIMON: Yep.
Ramona whacks Simon's arm.
LEO: We'll get 'em next time, Ramona. I swear it.
Haley whacks the back of Leo's head.
HALEY: And you'll listen to her next time, Leo. Swear that, too.
Ramona turns to Simon. He looks at her with soft eyes and a small smile.
SIMON: Ramona—
RAMONA: I know. It's not the end, only the beginning.
SIMON: I was going to say you had dirt on your nose.
Ramona scowls at him.
RAMONA: You're so annoying, you know that?
FADE TO BLACK.
