EXTT. SIDEWALK – DAY
Ramona is walking to work with a bagel when she receives a call from her mom.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Hi honey! How are you?
RAMONA: I'm just about to start work, mom.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Oh, oops.
RAMONA: It's fine. I'm not there yet. How are you?
RAMONA'S MOTHER: I'm great! I have good news!
Ramona waits patiently for her mother to break the news, taking a bite of her bagel instead.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: I got the job!
Ramona almost spits out her bagel.
RAMONA: What! No way! That's awesome, mom! Congratulations!
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Thank you honey! What about you? Did you finish that film you were making?
RAMONA: Mm, yeah. We submitted it last month. We're finding out the results today, actually.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Well, tell me if you win. I'm sure you will.
Ramona laughs. Sally's Sandwich shop draws closer in the distance.
RAMONA: Okay, mom. I will. I gotta get going, though. I'm here at work.
CUT TO:
INT. SALLY'S SANDWICH SHOP – DAY
Ramona pushes the door open to Sally's Sandwich Shop. Haley greets her with a smile.
RAMONA'S MOTHER: Alright, honey. I'll talk to you later.
RAMONA: Bye, mom.
Ramona hangs up and finishes the rest of her bagel. Haley hands her the apron, and Simon comes out of the kitchen to greet her with a kiss on the cheek.
SIMON: Leo's coming over with the results. He said he hasn't opened the e-mail yet.
RAMONA: (squeals) I'm so excited.
