"Alright, Kelvin, unless you have any other questions, we're done." I said standing up and collecting my books.

Since I was on the dean's list, my professors had encouraged me to consider tutoring underclassmen in my free time because it would help prove character when applying for jobs after graduation.
Although I was normally very shy and timid around people I didn't know, I actually enjoyed tutoring. It brought me comfort to know that I was making a difference in peoples lives by helping them get their education.

"I don't have any questions. Thanks for doing this." He said smiling before getting up and throwing his notebook and textbook in his backpack.

"Don't mention it." I replied winking.

"Maybe I have one question for you." He smirked.

I raised my eyebrow as I waited on him to continue.

"Could I take you out tomorrow night?" He said licking his lips as he sized me up.

"It's sweet of you to ask, but no thanks." I replied swiftly.

His face went from sensual to confused.

"Wh, wh, why not?"

"I'm a lesbian." I lied.

Truth be told, I'd never had a boyfriend, never gone on a date, never gave a guy my number or anything like that.

I'd been through so much personally that I had no desire to be with a guy in that way. I wasn't gay, because I'd often found myself attracted to guys in the past, but I was very reserved and to myself.

"Oh." He said shamefully putting his hand over his mouth, "My bad, I ain't know."

I waved my hand dismissively and threw my own backpack on my shoulder, "No biggie. See you Monday?"

"Monday." He said as his face turned beet red.

He turned around and walked away so fast it was comical.

I smiled to myself and turned towards the library door to leave out.

"Lori!"

I turned around and smiled at my friend Teyana as she ran up to me.
