We enter a crowded club with loud music playing and young people dancing on the dance floor.
"You want a drink?" Layla screamed to drown the music. I nodded and followed her to the bar.
We sat down on a stool each and leaned against the counter. A guy in his early twenties stood in the bar making different kind of drinks in red and yellow.
We order one drink each. I'm not very much for drinks. To be honest I'd rather have a coke. But that would'be given me a stamp in my forehead saying BORING.
"Hey, Aine?" The bar guy suddenly said, searching for my eyes behind my curtain of blond hair. I looked up from my drink and meet his gaze.
"Yeah... That's me." I answer quietly, trying to see his face in the discreet lightning.
"Hi, it's me, David." He said with a wide smile, blotting a row of white teeth. Then the pieces fell into its places. It was David my old friend, whom I had known since I was in preschool.
"Oh hi! Now I see it's you, I couldn't see your face properly, how fun to see you!" I said, hopefully loud enough for him to hear me trough the sound of the crowd.
"Yeah, it's been a while. How long? A hundred years?" He smirked while shaking the next drink.
I made a laugh and looked after Layla. She's not sitting beside me anymore. I'm searching for her tall figure and finally found her gaze in the crowd. I waved my hand in an over clear motion. She answers by waving back and mimed "coming soon!" Then I saw that she was standing next to Rebecca, a class mate.
I turned around on my stool and donate some attention to my drink. How typical isn't it that my friend who insisted to go out with me, searches up someone else to party with.
In a grumpy mood I spend ten minuets to wait for Layla to finish her conversation.
"Where did your friend go?" I hearEd David say.
"Oh, just talking to a friend over there."
"You want to dance?" He asked with a friendly smile.
"Dance? Aren't you in charge?" I responded surprised by his sudden question.
"I can take a break when I feel to." He hung up the towel and took my hand. He lead me to the dance floor into the crowd of hot bodies. I looked into his eyes that reminded me of the little boy I used to spend my weekends with before I got to know Layla. And before he changed school. We really were good friends.
I'm glad I met him this night. You see Aine, to go out this night wasn't a bad choice after all. He had grown tall, a few inches taller than me, but still skinny as he used to be.
We moved to the rhythm of the music, and I really enjoyed it. Until he moves closer while dancing.
