14. Wrangles

The next day I cheered up myself and went back to college, faking a smile just for Rohan and Aravind. But I didn't realize I was fooling myself until the moment I saw Keerthi coming with Nithish on his bike. Although I wished her to be happy I couldn't stand at the site of it. I immediately rushed out of the place in rage.

Keerthi's Pov
When Nithish asked me out, just then I realized my love for Gautham. The moment I realized I gasped out of excitation. I felt like shouting and admitting to the world that I love him. But then I decided to wait for his proposal.

Almost a week have been passed, whatever may be the emergency he should have arrived by now, why isn't he not answering my call. Enough is enough, this is not done if I stay silent, today I will ask it out from Rohan.

As I walked down the streets Lost in thoughts, I missed my bus. but then Aravind came in like a savior and offered me lift, who happened to pass by that way. I stood there in silence recollecting our past encounter.

"Don't worry I will not demand you to accept my proposal in exchange for a bike ride" he mocked me. I smiled in relief and got on his bike. The moment we reached college, I rushed inside the mechanical department in search of Rohan. 

"Rohan, did you meet Gautham? do you know where he is?"

"what does he have to do with you? If you are asking him just for the sake of the project then there is good news for you, soon after this semester he is gonna continue his studies in correspondence. I just have one request, please stop confusing him and handle the pending works by yourself", He spoke out in annoyance and walked past me not waiting for me to reply to him

what the hell! have everyone gone insane!

After few days Harini got a birthday party invitation from Gautham. Although I was not invited I decided to show up at the party just for the sake to meet Gautham.

Gautham's Pov
When Aravind decided to celebrate his birthday in a grand way I found it to be little fishy but I didn't inquire about it as I believed he would soon or later explain it to me. Although the arrangement for the party was more like a business meeting, I invited Rohan and Harini from my side to the party. 

While Aravind was busy handling clients I was bored by the atmosphere. I decided to step out for a while to get some air until Rohan or Harini shows up. When I reached the terrace I found a girl standing at the edge of the cliff more attempting for a suicide. Before she could jump off I grabbed and pulled her back to the ground just in time.

"What is your problem? Why do you want to die?" I yelled at the girl. 

"you can speak out, I promise i won't reveal it to anyone, you can trust me", I added assuring her and held up her hand lightly

"my boyfriend betrayed me... And now he is blackmailing me with our photos, I don't think he is gonna stop just with this one time. I can't even tell my parents nor police if I do so then media would get the news..."

as she explains her situation out, a message popped up her mobile.  

"Was it him?" I enquired her and She nodded back.

"Don't worry I will help you out, just do as I say"

Later as per my plan, we reached his estate with the cash he asked. When he arrived she went to the spot to hand over the cash while I hid behind the car. The moment the transaction got over I pointed a gun at his head and asked him to return back all the copies.

"you are right I have many copies of it, and I am not dumb enough to come here alone..." he replied with an evil grin plastered on his face

Just as I expected, soon his men surrounded us and beat me to blue, unable to manage I fell down on the ground and fainted. 

After a while when I woke up, I found myself tied to a chair with her, and two of his men stood by us as a guard.

"What salary do you get from your boss? Does he even give you a salary?" I asked one of the guys

"that's none of your business", the guy groaned

"Free us and then, maybe your boss doesn't have to be the boss anymore"

"what do you mean by that?", the guy looked unsure.

"I am one of the heirs of Mahindra group of industries I can pay you well and help you if you let us free or else sooner or later you will be caught by the police and you know what happens after that-"

"How can we believe you? what if you run away?"

"well you have your gun, you can use it"

On believing my drama the guy nodded in agreement and untied us.
"now, do as you promised", he asked.

"sure" saying so I bent down as if to tie my lace, and grabbed his leg pulling him down to the ground. Then I grabbed his gun from him within he could react.

"you had a gun even before they caught you, why didn't you use it then and grabbing it now", the girl asked me out puzzled by my action.

"well, you can't shoot with a toy gun", I winked at her

After beating the guys I held her hand and we both escaped out of the building before other fellow men could reach us. While we are on way to the main road the girl's ex-lover reached there with his men blocking our way.
