21. The wedding day

After getting the final check done right, I made my way to the lake a little far away from the church where the wedding is held. Sitting down on the ground I was lost in thoughts on reminiscing back the sweet memories with Gautham glaring at the honeymoon flight tickets which I had to hand over to him after the wedding. On hearing the clapping sounds coming from inside, I understood that the wedding is already over and now my Gautham officially belongs to Sherly.

Gautham's Pov

When Keerthi approached me earlier I thought she would ask me not to let go of her but rather she wished me and left the place quietly. I don't know whether to be proud of my girl having enough guts and a strong heart to let go off her love or pity at her for loving a guy like me. Followed by groomsmen (Rohan, Nithish) myself and Aravind entered the chapel. When the brides too arrived the ceremony began as per tradition.

When the priest gets to the part where he asks for any objectors to speak now or forever hold on, Aravind raised his hand stating that he has an objection leaving everyone stunned.

"Sorry Wincy I cannot marry you" he spoke looking at wincy.

"But why? What's the problem honey?" wincy enquired him out of shock.

"I don't have any problem with you but I cannot marry you at the stake of my brother's life, It was my mistake, i didn't bother to ask his concern before deciding his life so I take the blame for causing this trouble and if possible forgive me" Aravind apologized to everyone present at the chapel.

"arv-" within I could finish my sentence he stormed at me, "don't you dare open your mouth now, I gave you lots of chances to speak up but you remained silent"

"Gautham, you explain what's going on here?" wincy asked turning her attention towards me but all I could do was stand out there like a statue out of guilt.

"Don't ask him he will never speak up, he loves one but wants to marry another in the name of sacrifice, stating him to be a selfless guy" "you know what, in the end, you are just ruing the life of two girls for your own sake, you are selfish", Aravind shouted at me.

"Yeah, unfortunately, I happened to hear your conversation last night", he added on as gasped on in realization

On hearing much Sherly was disheartened, after much pondering she too raised up her hand in objection

"Even I have an objection to this wedding".

Followed by her Rohan and Nithish too raised their hands in support for her. Wincy and her family were much stunned on witnessing Sherly's behavior.

"Sherly are you out of your mind? you loved him then why?" wincy quired her.

"Although I loved him, to lead a happy life love must be mutual, I don't want a man who loves another woman. Promise me Wincy that you won't stop your wedding just because of me" she stretched out her hand for a promise towards Wincy.

After much commotion and drama, the wedding happened finally in spite of a few guests and my dad's disapproval. During their post ritual, I thanked Sherly.

"it is not only your brother's life it is my sister's life too so stop being thankful. By the way, are you gonna waste your time standing here or go and see your lady love Miss Keerthi" she mocked

"how do you know its Keerthi!?" I asked in amuse.

"well I could sense it, she must be near around somewhere"

Freed from my obligation I dashed out of the chapel in search of her. while she looked at me in amuse, I hugged her tight in relief.

Keerthi's Pov

I turned back on hearing footsteps coming towards me and it was Gautham. It felt like a dream. As he approached me I froze on in joy debating it to be a dream or not. His teary eyes, the smile of relief followed by a tight hug were more than enough to convey his feelings than any explanation could.

**** After 1 year ****

Its been a year since we started dating, it's our first love anniversary yet he is not here with me he is abroad for an official meeting. Although he apologized to me beforehand I managed to hold on fake poker face just to tease him. This one year quite a lot of things have been changed Nithish turned out to be an event organizer. Wincy my ex-boss is expecting a baby soon and my new boss is Sherly, despite all that I did to her she still treats me as a friend. Harini is currently working her ass off and chasing her dreams whereas for rohan, he has changed quite a lot. <To know more about them you will have to wait for sequel >

After a hard day of toil when I returned home exhausted, I was delighted to find some heart balloons on the doorway leading me too terrace. At the terrace, I was overwhelmed with joy to witness Gautham. He stood still facing his back towards me getting ready to surprise me when I call out his name.

"so... who is it.. don't turn let me guess, is it Gautham? No it can't be I just spoke to him he is still abroad then it must be... Nithish!-" before I could finish he turned in a swift and walked towards me

"how come you expect him to be here? Is he still after you?"

"duffer! I just teased you... "

"you are gonna pay for it, but then how was my surprise?"

"I think you should start taking classes from Nithish on giving surprises," I taunted him

"oh is that so.. even I want to give his friend some classes on romance in return", as he leaned forward for a kiss, I hit him playfully and ran downstairs followed by him.

**next day of wedding**

On witnessing Sherly sitting alone at airport Nithish sat beside her.

"you were too brave enough to break the wedding at the last minute and let go off your loved one", Nithish words broke the awkward silence stayed between them.

"and that means you are also brave-" after a pause, she continued "don't act innocent I know you also loved Keerthi" Sherly replied to him.

"does bravery comes along with beauty and intelligence?"

"friends!?", Sherly stretched out her hand in for a handshake
