You navigated the halls of the castle, clutching your books to your chest. You almost dropped them all as you were running, the wind causing force against your already full arms. You tried not to drop your book bag as well as you sprinted to your Defense Against the Dark Arts class. You were sharing with the Gryffindors, and your friends already promised you a seat.
You busted into the room, panting as all heads turned towards you. You scanned the room, trying to ignore the stares from your peers and the disapproving nod from Professor Kiltwell, and sighed happily as you saw an open seat next to Sirius Black, who was beaming at you and already pulling out your seat.
"Miss Sawyer, Miss Evans," Professor Kiltwell said in his nasally voice, "Get on with it, we have much to cover today."
You slid into the seat next to Sirius and gave him a smile. You watched as an equally late Lily Evans slid into the seat next to James Potter, grumbling as he was already starting to stare at her with a love sick expression. Your attention was torn away from them as you turned to Sirius, eyes bright as you unpacked.
"Hey Pads," you say, using your mock nickname of the ones his friends use.
"Hello love," he said cheekily, kicking his feet up on the table as you rolled your eyes. Sirius was easily your guy best friend, and had been since the moment you met him and his friends on the train. You were sort of the honorary 'Maraudgirl' as some people called you, sitting with them and hanging out with them all the time. You always counted on them, and they always pulled through for you. Plus, being able to help stitch up Remus after a bad full moon was nice too.
"Ah, Rowena!" you hiss, looking in your bag frantically, "Where did I... Sirius have you-"
A light feathery feeling darted across your nose, and you wrinkled it at the sensation as Sirius handed you your quill with a knowing smile. Years of sharing a desk with Sirius, made him pick up on the fact that you always left something behind. You smiled and thanked him, seeing him chuckle as you pulled out your note book.
The lesson went by slowly, Professor Kiltwell's drawling voice boring you out of your mind, but you were able to keep a pretty diligent mind in the lecture. Sirius, on the other hand, was snoozing loudly in the chair next to you. You rolled your eyes and had already started copying a note page of your own for him.
You tapped his shoulder at the end, and he woke up with a start.
"I slept through the entire lesson! Oh crap, normally I wouldn't give hell about it but we have OWLS next week and-"
"Sirius," you say in an exasperated tone. He blinks at your notes you waved in his face, before grabbing them and reading over them with a broad smile. He pulls you into a hug and you smile.
"I'll see you later, by guys," you wave to the group as Remus, Peter, and Sirius give you warm goodbyes. James mutters a farewell as he watches Lily's butt sway as she walks out of the room with a broad smile. You giggled as you make for the door, only to be stopped by someone.
"Hey Sawyer," a guy greets as you stare up at Adrien Peterson, star Hufflepuff Seeker. You smile, brushing past him a little ways as you continue walking.
"Hi."
He matched your pace, and digs his hands in his pockets. "Some lesson today huh?"
"Yeah," you say, always being the friendly and talkative type, "If Kiltwell assigns us one more essay I'm going to throw myself into the Black Lake."
Adrien laughs, showing his perfectly white teeth. "I didn't even turn mine in last week. I forgot about it and by the grace of God he let me have an extra day. I was going nuts."
