Before I Met you // Hyunin

Hyunjin P.O.V

In the dance class people are usually practicing first before the actual class starts. So Jeongin and I sat down on the floor and chatted with one another.

"Do you have any other friends?" He asked.

"I only have one friend, his name is Changbin but he's not in school today."

"Ohh okay."

"Why don't you have more friends? You seem like you would be the popular kid or something."

"Well actually I am bullied." I said frankly.

I didn't want to tell him my story and past of being bullied but it slipped out

"I get bullied by many people in school which is why no one wants to be friends with me."

"But you're so handsome and good looking, how could you be bullied?"

"I am bullied for my personality. I am very sensitive and weak to people so they use my vulnerability to bully me." I said sadly, shifting my gaze to the floor.

"That's so mean! They shouldn't do that." Jeongin said to me.

"You don't look weak at all to me. You are super nice and you even have the confidence to talk to me first and offer to help me out. You're an amazing person!" Jeongin said brightly smiling.

"Thanks." I said softly.

"Can you tell me more about yourself and your personality?" Jeongin asked, curious.

"Well one of my passions is dancing. I love to dance so much. However, when I dance I am very hard and critical on myself. I judge myself and my skills too much which makes me appear sensitive and weak. People use this weakness of mine to bully me. They say I suck at dancing and that I am a crybaby and too sensitive. I may appear like that but I am very different on the outside. They just don't take a chance to know me better as a person."

"Those people are just ignorant and rude. You are such an amazing and sweet person and I only met you 20 minutes ago!" Jeongin said.

The practice ended and class officially started.

"Hyunjin you're up!" The teacher said.

In this class we each have to perform a solo free style dance. Then the teacher judges us based on different criteria and helps give us tips on ways to improve. Today it was my turn to go first. I was extremely nervous and lacking confidence. I looked over at Jeongin. He was smiling at me with the biggest smile ever. I took a deep breath and then danced my heart away.

After I danced the teacher and some people clapped and I returned to my seat. There were some whispers too amongst the students.

"He sucks at dancing."
"That was terrible he should give up."
"He looks so bad when he dances."

Although I ignored those words they made me even sadder.

"I sucked. I messed up so much." I said to Jeongin almost crying.

"Are you kidding me? You are an amazing dancer! That was so good I'm stunned!!" Jeongin said loudly.

"You have real talent Hyunjin I don't know why other people can't see that."

I just smiled and thought silently to myself.

For the rest of the period we watched as the other students performed. Then the bell rang and the class ended.

I went to the teacher for my evaluation.

"Hyunjin you are seriously one of the best dancers in this class. You have inborn talent and skill that the other students don't have. They just have practice and motivation but you are born with this talent! You're only problem is that you lack confidence in your dancing which makes it appear less enjoyful to watch. You just need to be confident and let yourself free and you will be the best you can be!"

The teacher's advice really made me feel better. But I was still upset at myself.

"Thank you!" I said to the teacher. Then I turned to Jeongin as we left to the next class.

"Hyunjin after watching all the students perforn, you were definitely the best one. You have amazing dancing skills!" Jeongin said.

His words made me feel happy inside.
No one besides the teacher and Changbin has ever said this to me.

I smiled at him. "Thank you Jeongin."
