The Next Day

Hyunjin P.O.V

I ran to my 1st period class, throwing down my backpack as I sat in my seat.

"Today is the day for picking partners for the project right?" I asked Changbin who was sitting to my left.

"Yea we're picking partners. Why are you so excited?"

"Because this project is so interesting."

"It's only about researching animal shelters and visiting some and making a report on it."

"Yea but you know I love animals, especially dogs. I can't wait help some animals in need and research about this." I said excitedly. I turned back to Changbin about to say something, but he spoke first.

"Do you mind if I work with Minho for this one project though? He asked me earlier because he said he wanted to work with me on it. I don't want to reject him."

My smile turned into a slight frown. I pouted at Changbin while saying, "Fine. Leave me."

"I'm sure somebody else will want to work with you!" Changbin said trying to reassure me.

"Whatever. Just go to your new partner." I said rolling my eyes sarcastically.

Changbin laughed. "Calm down it's not that big of a deal."

"You know I'm kidding." I laughed.
Changbin chuckled back. However inside I was hurt.

"Okay guys listen up! Time to pick your partners for the project. If you do not have a partner one will be randomly assigned to you or you may volunteer to work with someone who doesn't have one." The teacher announced to the class.

After 5 minutes of people choosing partners the teacher came back to the front of the room and spoke again.

"So far we have only 5 partners! Minho and Changbin, Felix and Chan, Jisung and Seungmin, Mark and Hacehan, and Jaemin and Jeno. So I will read out the rest of the class' names and if you would like to work with them raise your hand. I'll start at the botton of the list alphabetically and work my way up"

"Kim Woojin."
A girl raised her hand and they were paired together.

"Kim Jungwoo"
Almost half the class raised their hand, but he was paired with a boy named Lucas.

"Hwang Hyunjin." Finally it was my turn. Of course no one raised their hand to work with me.
I'm not surprised.
Changbin just looked at me with a sorrowful look.
"It's okay. Don't worry." He mouthed.

"I want to be his partner!" Someone said raising their hand and standing up.

It was Jeongin. My eyes lit up and I formed a small smile.

"Okay Hyunjin and Jeongin are paried together." The teacher announced.

Jeongin made his way towards me and sat down in the seat next to me.

"Hey I'm your partner now! Are you okay with that?"

"Yes of course! Thank you for volunteering. I would love for you to be my partner."

Then for the rest of the period we went over the project and discussed the details of it.

"You seem to be really happy about doing this project!" Jeongin said. "You are so excited you can't even remain still."

"Yes. This topic is important to me because I actually have a dog of my own. I love animals and dogs."

"Oh really? That's cool! What's your dog's name?" Jeongin asked.

"Kkami."

"Aww that's so cute!" Jeongin giggled.

"Thanks." I smiled.

"I always loved animals so it's so nice to me that you have a dog!"

"Here I'll show you a picture." I said as I took out my phone. I had a few so I scrolled through them and showed him all.

"Kkami is adorable!!" Jeongin said. I smiled and thanked him.
