Dalton's POV

After a long day of swimming, we all decided to stay out later. We laid out a few blankets and laid on them, laughing and enjoying each other's company. Today was different. I haven't had so much fun with my family since I was like, 13. I sat up and looked around at my family. I smiled a little but it quickly faded. I laid back down and looked up. It felt weird to smile and feel happy. I haven't felt that in so long.

I felt a body, obviously larger than mine, lay next to me. A strong smell of beer drifted over to the air. I looked over and saw Travis. I turned back to looking at the sky.  "How's your hand?" he asked. I glanced down at my hand. "Fine." I said. "This again?" he asked sitting up. "What?" I asked. "You being all quiet again." he said. I shrugged my shoulders. "If I give you beer, will you be happy?" he asked. I smiled a bit, "I don't think Mitch would be to happy about that." I said, a grin still on my face, the weird feeling from just a little bit ago swept over my body.

"What's that face for?" Travis asked. "I got some weird feeling." I mumbled. "Happiness." he said. "What?" I asked. "The feeling. Its happiness. Haven't felt that in a while have you?" he said. I nodded my head.

"Woo!" Mitch yelled. I looked over and saw that someone had made a fire. Travis smiled down at the ground and chuckled. He stood up and I propped myself on my elbows. He started walking away, but suddenly stopped. "Come over, please." he gave me a pleading look. I sighed and stood up. He smiled and ran over to Mitch. I stopped and watched as he gave him a kiss and sat next to each other.

That's something I wanted. To have someone to hold. To be happy with. I looked around. I felt so lonely watching everyone being happy. It felt as if....I didn't belong. Like I wasn't suppose to be with this group of people.

"Hey little bro." Kacey said as her arms wrapped around my shoulders. "Hey." I said. "You ok?" she asked. "Yeah." I said. She grabbed my arm and practically dragged me over to everyone. She pushed my shoulders down, which forced me to sit down by Travis. He smiled at me. I hated making eye contact so I looked down. His free arm slung around my shoulders. "Got my two favorite guys." he said. Mitch laughed on the other side. His arm fell from me and back down to his lap.

I looked across the street. Max and Cody had been watching us. They walked to the opening of the woods. I stood up quickly and ran to the end of the trail. I watched their figures as they made their way down the path. I walked back to the group and sat down anxiously.

After at least 5 minutes, Max and Cody had finally made their way to the end. I felt a surge of rage and anger rush over me. "Hey fags!" Max yelled. "You think hitting girls is okay?" Cody yelled. I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I grabbed the arm and pulled Cody's sweatshirt and pulled back as I could and punched him square in the face. "Wouldn't put  a hand on me or Daddy gets it." Max said. "Do it, bitch. I dare you to." Travis said standing up. Well, tonight was going to end in a bloody war.
