Mitch's POV
I woke up earlier than I planned to. The loud ringing of my phone decided to be as loud as possible. I sleepily grabbed it and hit answer. "Hello?" I said. "Mitch? Its Tori. Something's wrong." Tori said. I sat up immediately. "What do you mean something's wrong? Is it Dalton? Is he ok?" I said panicking. "I'm not sure. I stayed with him last night and he won't wake up." she said. "Ok. Do you know where his suitcases are?" I said trying to calm down. "Yeah. By the front door." she said. "Ok. Go grab them and bring them up to his room. Go through them and see if his medicine is in there." I instructed.
I could hear her footsteps as she hurried down the stairs and back up again.
She unzipped the bag and I heard her searching. "No. No medicine. Nothing." she said. "Call an ambulance and call me when you're at the hospital." I said. "Alright." she hung up.
I looked over and saw Travis asleep. "Trav. Wake up." I said as I shook him. "What's wrong, Mitch?" he said tiredly. "It's Dalton. He didn't take his pills with him and now he has to go to the hospital." I said. I could feel the tears running down my cheeks.
Travis sat up and wrapped his arms around me. "It'll be alright. We have to be strong for him. Is everyone else asleep?" he asked. I looked around and saw everyone still in their bunks. I nodded. "We can leave a note or something. If you want to go see him, I'm sure they'll understand." he comforted.
Once we were done packing, I wrote a note and left it on the table. "Ready?" Travis asked. I nodded and took his hand.
We got a taxi and asked him to take us to the airport. "Do you think he's ok?" I asked Travis. "I know he's ok." he mumbled.
We arrived at the airport and paid for plane tickets for the next flight to LA. We took some seats and waited.
Waiting seemed like forever. Finally we heard the intercom announce everyone going to LA could board. Me and Travis grabbed our bags and headed to the boarding area. We handed the lady our tickets and boarded the plane.
We took two seats at the back of the plane. Travis took our suitcases, put them in the over head, and sat down. I pulled my knees to my chest and started shaking. "Mitch. Calm down. He's going to be alright." Travis said. "No Travis. He's not. We let him go alone. He was deep in fucking depression and he was alone! This is all our fault! If it weren't for us maybe a better family would've taken him! He could be happy!" I yelled.
Travis looked taken aback. "You're upset. I get it. I'll give you your space." he said and sat back in his seat. "I'm sorry, Trav." I mumbled. "Don't be." he said. I wiped my eyes and layed my head on my knees. "Get some sleep Mitch. I'll be right here, babe." he said. I nodded and closed my eyes.
I heard Travis chuckle. "You're gonna hurt yourself." he said.
Travis's arm came around my side and pulled me towards him. I layed my head on his chest and closed my eyes. "Sleep tight, my love."
Tori's POV
We had just arrived at the hospital and I had promised Mitch I would call him. I pulled out my phone and dialled Mitch's number. "Hello?" an unrecognized voice said. "Is Mitch there?" I asked. "Who the hell is this?" the voice sounded angrier. "Trav, its probably Tori." Mitch said in the background.
"Tori?" Mitch said. "Yeah. We just got to the hospital." I said. "Alright. Our plane should be landing soon." he said. "Ok. I'll be in the waiting room. If not, I'll message you." I said and hung up. I sighed and pulled my knees up to my chest. Please, Dalton. Be strong.
*3 hours later*
Mitch's POV
The plane had finally landed. Travis grabbed our luggage and handed me my suitcase. We hurried off the plane and outside to get a taxi. Once we finally got one, I told the driver to get to the hospital quickly. He sped off and we got there in ten minutes. "Thanks!" I said and paid him.
Travis grabbed our suitcases from out of the trunk and carried them inside. As soon as we got inside we rushed to the waiting room. I looked around and saw Tori on her phone. I sighed and walked over to her.
"Tori?" I said. She looked up and her eyes were red from crying. "Hey." she said. I sat down next to her. "Did they say anything?" I asked. "They said there isn't much to do." She said. I felt a lump in my throat. This is it. Dalton's wish is coming true. He wanted to leave and that's what's going to happen. "Uh, someone here for a Dalton Wright?" A doctor said, interrupting my thoughts.
The three of us stood up and walked to the doctor. "Is he going to be ok?" I asked. "We looked through his records and saw he was suppose to be taking medication, but there was no trace of it in his body. So, we put the liquidized version into a needle and gave it to him that way. He should wake up soon. Would you like to go to his room?" the doctor offered. "Please." Travis said. The doctor motioned for us to follow and we did.
Travis's arm was around my waist as we walked down the corridors.
I almost froze as the doctor opened a door and I saw Dalton, still and life-less, laying on the bed. I remember the first time me and Travis confronted him about his suicidal thoughts.
*flashback*
"Dalton. We need to talk." I said. He rolled his eyes. "What?" he sat down on the couch. "We found these in your room." I placed the blades in his hand. "And we know what you're using them for." Travis added.
It was silent. No one spoke. "Do you know what they say about suicidal people?" Dalton asked. "They say they're just angels who want to go home." he put the blades in his pocket and went to his room.*end of flashback*
Travis led me to the seat next to Dalton and he sat next to me. I gently reached out and placed my hand in his. "Travis?" I said. "Yeah?" Travis said. "I think this angel just wants to go home." I said. I took my hand out of his and left. I walked out of the room and walked out of the hospital.
This isn't his home. He needs to be happy. His home is somewhere. He was right all this time. He's an angel. And he's finally going home.
