Everyone knew John wasn't the most graceful person in the world so often he ended up in the medical tent needing to be fix up.
One fateful day a new nurse came to the camp and caught Johns fancy.
He had fallen over and sprained his ankle so two of his fellow officers carried him to the tent.
He laid on the cot as a young nurse came in with a smile on her face.
"Hello, What seems to be the problem." She said looking at him.
"Hurt my ankle." John said looking at the lady as she got out the bandages to help his leg.
"You know I've been here a lot and I've never met you before." He said as she began to wrap his ankle.
"Yes I'm new here. Much rather be fighting in this war but since I'm a women this is all I could do." She looked up at the young soldier and smiled.
"You wanna fight?" She nodded and stood up.
"There, take it easy. Don't put much pressure on it for a few days."
"Wait I never got you name." He said as she walked away.
"Y/n L/n, and what about you?"
"John Laurens. Lovely to meet you." He smirked and kissed her hand before going off to his bunk.

-A month later-

Y/n and John had gotten to know each other very well over the passed month they knew each other. Soon enough the young nurse confessed her attraction to John and happily he accepted them and the two started dating. He loves how strong and smart she was and adored his sense of humor and personality. The fit perfectly together and even though they never told anyone in the camp everyone knew the two where together.
It was late at night when an alarm when off yelling at the soldiers get up get ready. Everyone was confused until the first gun shots went off followed by screams of pain.
The camp was being attacked.
All nurses prepared the medical tent for wounded or dying soldiers.
"Y/n we need to go out and get some fallen men we have no choice." The head nurse said fixing her apron.
Y/n heart rate increase, she dream of being on the battlefield but now that the situation was place in front of her she was more then scared.
She was petrified.
"If we're quick we can get the man closest the medical tent alright." She said before the two women ran out to save this man.
Y/n and the bead nurse held the man up as they carried in to the entrance when a hit pain shot though Y/n's leg causing her to scream and fall to the ground.
The head nurse help the man to an open cote before running back outside to help the fallen nurse who was shot in the leg.
"It's alright dear, it's gonna be alright I promise." Wa all she heard before passing out.
After the red coats retreated everything was quit expect for the medical tent with nursing running back and forth to help men.
After the wounded were cared far and the dead where counted John went to the medical tent so Y/n knew he was ok.
But she was no where to be seen.
The head nurse walked up to him and smiled sadly.
"Can I help you sir?" She asked whipping her wet hands on his blood stained apron.
"I'm looking for a nurse. Y/n L/n do you know where she is?" She nodded and sighed.
"she was shot in leg while we where trying to rescue a solider. She alright now but needs rest, before we send her home."
"Wait you're sending her home?" She nodded
"Poor thing, it's going to take a long while before she can walk properly again."
"Can I see her?"
"Follow me." He followed closely behind the nurse as she lead in the back of the big tent where Y/n was laying awake.
"I'll leave you two to talk."
He watched her walk off before saying anything to her.
"They're sending you home." He said sadly. Y/n nodded and grabbed his hand.
"I'm going to miss you. You are my favorite nurse." He smiled kissing her hand.
"We'll keep in touch, I'm write to you. I promise." He smiled and nodded.
"Don't worry darling I'm gonna come home and I promise you we're gonna life happily together. I may not have much but I'll do everything to give you the best life possible." Y/n smiled and sat up to kiss him.
