—"Alright, so where is the grill?" Sierra questions as we finish up our last lap.
"It's up with road. We passed it on our way here."
"Can we just walk a little to cool off before going cause a girl is winded!" Ashley exclaimed, taking breather position.
"Sure." I answer simply and we proceed with our cool off lap.
"So, I know no one probably wants to hear this, but I have to say it." Brianne starts. "Ashley and I have organized a vigil for Kennedy and we're planning to do it Friday night..."
"That's tomorrow..." I respond.
"I know, we just thought about doing one last night, but we forgot to bring it up. We just thought it would be better to get the vigil out the way since we're going to have to do it eventually." Brianne explains.
"And it's been a week now and school is going to be back in session soon, we don't want to refresh wounds by doing it too late." Ashley adds.
I stay silent a bit. Thinking. About Kennedy and our friendship... about how she left our friendship for good.
"Sooo? What do you think?" Brianne's voice snaps me back.
"I get what y'all are saying, but I don't want her vigil to be rushed because we're trying to accommodate the lives of others. Kennedy respectfully deserves a thoroughly, planned and meaningful vigil." I tell them.
"Deserved..." Brianne corrects.
"Huh?" I reply.
"You said Kennedy deserves, she's...gone.It should be in the past-tense. We need to start speaking of her properly." She states.
"I used present-tense because she's left a legacy with the friendship she gave us."
"I mean, I wasn't intending to be rude, I just thought it would be nice of me to give all of us the reality check we need, but don't want." States Brianne.
"I guess you're right.." Amina replies.
"She is, but we're still healing, grammar doesn't matter right now." Sierra explains and the conversation ends there.
"On a lighter note, when are we going to go meet Quincy!" Ashley questions.
"Now. We were waiting for you!" I emphasize.
"Oh yeah." She responds giggling at herself.
We complete our last lap and decide to head back up the road and into the corner with the Jamaican Grill. When we got in the grill it was hella packed. We had to wait a bit before we were taken to our table.
"Damn! Their food smells too good! I think I'm going to have to eat more then just lunch!" Amina says, looking at us like an elderly woman wearing glasses.
"Mmm, me too. Brianne do you have any space in your bag, I'm taking this thing off!" Sierra says undoing her waist trainer.
"What are you guys getting?" Ashley questions.
"Oh no, no, no! It's not about what we're going to eat, it's about when Nickeya is going to introduce us to Quincy." Amina says raising her eyebrows at me.
"I don't even know if he's here!" I reply, feeling a little embarrassed, almost.
"Just ask for him." Brianne suggests.
I shake my head in rejection.
The topic changes and after a while of chatting our waitress comes to tend to us. Part of me was bummed when the lady introduced herself as our waitress, but a bigger half was happy that it wasn't Quincy. We all went one after the other to give our orders, Sierra was finishing up her order.
