"Aye, Nicki! Some little boy hit my phone asking for you!" Amina says loudly in my ear, while I feel the pairs of hands tapping me, waking me up.
"What!" I snap, annoyed at how she woke me up.
I sit up and run my eyes. I look around and see that all the girls are crowding me.
"What yo?" I ask, laughing at how creepy they all look smiling at me.
"I don't know, you should be the one to tell us." Sierra smirks.
"Oh my gosh, if you guys are about to sit here and make me play the guessing game, then at least let me go brush my teeth." I say, standing up and walking away to the restroom. As soon as I close the door behind me I hear them burst into giggles. I roll my eyes and laugh at their foolishness, then I begin to freshen up.
"You done girl?" Ashley asks upon her hearing the faucet turn off.
"Yes, geez!" I joke as I step out the restroom. "So what are y'all so giggly about?" I question.
"I said that some little boy called asking for you!" Amina stresses.
I look at her in confusion. Was it my brother? Nah, Amina knows his name, and the girls wouldn't be this excited over him calling me.
Intersecting my train of thought, Amina begins to playing a voicemail. My memory begins to search for a face to match the voice, but I can't think of anyone.
"Hello, um good evening, I'm just calling for Ni...Nickeya! I just wanted to make sure that she is fine and that she got home safe as well. She didn't seem to be in her right state of mind yesterday, So I just wanted to make sure she was alright. I apologize for calling so late, I just got off work. Oh, and my name is Quincy!"
My eyes widen once I realize that it's the Quincy from the Jamaican Grill yesterday.
"You can call me back, or shoot me a text once you hear this...thank you, goodnight." He says, ending his message.
"So? Are you going to tell us where you ran off to yesterday?" Amina questions.
"I just went to eat and ran into this annoying ass waiter... he was actually funny but he was playing too much yesterday and I just wasn't in the mood. And he was fine— it's a long story guys—" Brianne intercedes my speech.
"Okay well tell, tell! We've got a long time before we leave the house today, we're ready for this story time Nicki!" Brianne says, getting extra comfortable in her seated position.
"You guys—" Sierra cuts me off.
"Just sit down and tell the story! You can't talk yourself out of this. There is just no way!"
Sierra reaches out in front of her and pats the empty space before her. I reluctantly sit in front of them and get comfortable.
"So, when I left you guys yesterday, I just kept walking until I found a little Jamaican restaurant to run into. I decided to sit down and—"
"Good morning, I'm apologize for the constant pestering but I just wanted to make sure Nickeya got home safe yesterday evening. Get back to me if you can, thank you.....Quincy" Brianne reads aloud.
Unconsciously, a smile stretches across my face as Brianne reads the text message to us.
"Oh my gosh guys! She's smiling! This boy has Nickeya acting goofy y'all!" Ashley announces and everyone.
