That night I had the first nightmare.

In it, I was in the bathroom.

I could feel the cool tile floor press against my bare feet. I could smell mint toothpaste. It was late at night and I turned to look in the full size mirror on the back of the door.

But my reflection wasn't there.

The room in the reflection was tinted red. A shadowed body was sprawled across the floor and unmoving. I looked closer.

It was me. My dark brown eyes now white and frozen open and my mouth gaping slightly, hair encircled my forehead like a halo. My clothes had moth holes. My skin clung to my bones. Little splatters of dark red blood dotted the ground.

Then the lifeless corpse said my name, without its dry lips moving.

"Jaylyn." It chanted.

"Jaylyn."

"Jaylyn."

"Jaylyn!" Jordan shook me awake. "Jay!"

I screamed as my senses started to come back.

My face was wet and my throat hurt. I was tangled in my sheets, like I had been moving around a lot. I felt a sob catch in my chest.

I pushed away my blanket and hugged Jordan.

"It's okay." He tried to sooth me. "It was just a nightmare."

It didn't feel like just a nightmare.

I hummed along to the song blasting on my phone. I walked downstairs to see that Jordan had left for his part time job.

I crept into his room and saw that he left his computer on again. I looked for the application that I used to talk to his gaming friends last night and downloaded it on my laptop. My username was BlueJay. I got on Jordan's account and searched through the chat rooms until I found the one Zach was in. I asked him for help and he helped me get everything set up. I joined a chat room he was in. I talked into the mic and apparently I sounded worse that some guy named 'Kenny G'.

We just goofed off like that on TeamSpeak for a while. He introduced me to a couple of his friends, like Ryan, Brayden, Parker, Bee, and Stacy.

I heard Jordan pull into the driveway so I said bye and closed out of TeamSpeak.

I went to school the next day weary eyed. I had the nightmare again last night. Only this time I was closer to the mirror. My best friend Piper skipped up to me.

"What's up Jay?"

"Nothing, thinking."

"Well stop it. You look really sad." She pouted. I leaned on her because she's much shorter than me.

A little background on Piper, me and her had been friends since 8th grade. She had been booted from a clique and I was sitting in the corner of the cafeteria. She came up and sat with me, we talked about what jerks the people at school were, and we became best friends. Piper has blonde hair and hazel eyes. Background over.

I fiddled with the necklace that Jordan gave me when he moved out. It read 'I'll be there when the world stops turning, I'll be there when the storm is through.'

It was a couple lyrics from an old princess movie him and I used to watch when we were little. (A/N - props to you if you know what movie bc it is reeeeaaalllyyy old)

I continued fiddling with it as I walked out of school. I sat and waited for Jordan to come pick me up.
