It's now 3:30 and I've been unpacking all day. I could really use a coffee about now to be fair. I walked towards my door when I realise what I'm wearing. I'm in baggy sweat pants and a tank top. I quickly changed into something more presentable. Some tight jeans with a clean black tank top and my usual leather jacket. I walked out my room and down to Freddie's.
"Come on kid. Let's go get coffee" I say smiling at my son sat on his bed.
"Sure thing. I'm bored here anyway" he says leaping of the bed quickly.
"I can tell. You aren't doing anything" I say laughing at him.
I put my arm around his shoulder and we walked out the room. We went downstairs and to the car. I drove to the coffee shop as planned to go meet Regina. We went in and luckily she wasn't here yet. I sat at a booth and Freddie sat opposite me. Jake then came over.
"Thought I'd see you again. What can I get cha" he asked with a slight laugh.
"A hot chocolate with cinnamon for Freddie and a black coffee with one sugar for me. I really need coffee" I say knowing my energy levels are just dropping like a bag of bricks.
"Sure thing. Anything else" he asked writing it down.
"Yeah. Does Regina still always order a chocolate latte" I asked as I remembered her favourite drink.
"Yeah. Every time" Jake replied as he looked impressed at me.
"When she comes in just put one of them in front of her. If she asks any questions about it just point at me. I want to surprise her" I say as I plan out the situation in my head.
"Got it. That's everything right" he asked quickly writing down on the note pad.
"Yep" I replied with a nod.
Jake walked around the counter and started making them. I looked over at Freddie who looked excited. Even though he has hit puberty and has grown up so much his excited face is the exact same as when he was young.
"I can't wait to see her" he says as he bounced his legs.
"I know. I think 7 years was way to long" I replied with a slight laugh.
"Yeah. It was. I mean leaving was a good idea to get your heads clear but this was too long. We should have came back years ago when the job actually finished and you were a normal detective again" he said as he looked around the familiar coffee shop.
Jake came over and put our drink down in front of us. As he walked away I heard the door open. It was Regina. She looked even more beautiful than I remembered. Which is insane because she looked beautiful before. She was smiling and looking down at who must be 7 year old Aubrey. She looks so much like her mum it's crazy. Me and Freddie quickly lift the newspapers up over our face so she didn't see us. I looked over the top and watched her walked over and leaned against the counter.
"One chocolate latte" Jake says before turning around.
"Jake? I didn't order this" Regina questioned as she leaned closer to obviously get his attention.
I watched Jake turn around and point at me. I put the paper down as Regina turn in confusion. Her mouth dropped and her eyes doubled in size. She put her hands over her mouth in shock I imagine. I stood up and smiled at her.
"Hey Regina" I say so happy I can say that.
Before I knew it Regina ran towards me and jumped up into my arms. I caught her in a hug that she tightened. Her arms and legs were rapped around me like a koala round a tree. I held her close to me and smile at the situation.
