"𝙎𝙊 𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙒𝙀𝙍𝙀 𝘼 hit man?" Luther asked, sitting down. "Yes," Five replied. His eyes held a slight look of regret, and he refused to make eye contact with me. I grabbed his hand and squeezed it, grabbing his chin to tilt his head up. His eyes met yours, full of fear to hear your response.

"I will never think you're a monster."

Five squeezed back and turned to Luther. "You had a code, right?" Luther asked, continuing his "interrogation." Five looked at me before staring at the wall. "No code," he simply said. I could tell he was ashamed of his actions, so I pulled him a little closer. "What about innocent people?" I looked at Five to hear his response. "We had to kill anyone that impacted the timeline." I held back a gasp, but I knew it was the only way he could survive. "It was the only way for him to come back," I defended. I was only just hearing this story, but still took his side. "But that's murder," Luther said. Well duh Luther, it's not like he's going back in time to give those people a nice hug.

"Jesus Luther, grow up. We're not kids anymore. There's no such thing as good guys or bad guys. There's just people going about their lives. But when the world ends, all of those people die. Including our family. Time changes everything."

Luther looks at Five, with an expression saying he still didn't understand. Gosh, he can't get this information through his thick skull. He needs to know that Five is trying to help, and that he's the only one who can save us. I sighed, grabbed Five's hand, and whisked us away to the academy.

𝙄 𝙋𝙐𝙇𝙇𝙀𝘿 𝙁𝙄𝙑𝙀 along so we could talk in his room.

"Oh boy."

I hear a faint whisper, and open a door to find Klaus. He's wearing an army green vest with dog tags hung around his neck. The dark shadows are prominent under his eyes. He looks tired, weary, and older?

I look down the hall, noticing the bloody footsteps trailing from the bathroom, continuing into Klaus's room. I knock on the door to get his attention. Klaus looks up, his eyes holding a look of terror with a hint of sadness.

"You ok?"

"Oh hey. Yeah, just-just a long night."

"More than one by the looks of it," Five commented, smirking as he did so. I kicked his shin, knowing that Klaus was in pain. Five grabbed his leg, hopping up and down to keep his balance. Klaus gives only a small smile. "Yeah," is all he says. I walk up to Klaus to give him a hug. He looked like he needed it. "Don't remember the dog tags," Five remarks. Now that I'm closer to Klaus, I do notice some things. He looks paler, a sick and ghostly (no pun intended) color. His eyes still held the same terror, like when Dad used to trap him in a cemetery to get over his fear of the dead.

The sadness in them looked almost painful, like he had lost someone. "Yeah, they belonged to a friend," Klaus said, referring to the dog tags. The sadness in his eyes started to show more. "Nice tattoo," Five says, pointing to his arm. I hadn't noticed that before. "You know, I don't totally remember even getting it." Klaus sounded like he was drunk, but the look in his eyes tells me he's pretending. "Where did you go? Or should I say when?" I sent Five a questioning look, then realized he was talking about Hazel and Cha-Cha. Klaus must have done something with the briefcase. "I don't know what you're talking about."

I sent Klaus a sympathetic look. "You know what, Klaus," I interrupted. Five observed him. "Jet lag, full body itch, headache that feels like someone shoved a box of cotton up and into your nose, through your brain. You gonna tell me about it?"

I glared at Five, giving him a look saying that he should Klaus time.

"Your pals, when they broke into the house and they couldn't find you, they took me hostage instead."

"And in return, you stole their briefcase," I guessed.

"Yeah, I thought there was money in it. Or I could pawn it, you know, whatever. Then, I opened it."

"How long were you gone?" I asked Klaus. He looked up at me, the fear, sadness, terror all still present in his eyes. "Almost a year," Klaus says with a sigh. "A year?!" Five exclaimed. I kicked him again. You know, kicking him is quite fun.

"Do you know what this means?"

"I'm 10 months older now," Klaus said, clearly not wanting to continue this conversation. "No, this isn't any sort of joke, Klaus." I looked at Five with a worried expression. "Hazel and Cha-Cha will do anything they can to get the briefcase back. Where is it now?" Five asked, his eyes scanning the room for the briefcase.

"Gone, I destroyed it. Poof."

"What the hell were you thinking?" Five hisses at Klaus. I grabbed his arm to calm him down. He shrinks back, but only a little bit. "What do you care?" Klaus shouts, almost angrily. It was rare to see Klaus so sad and not as upbeat. Almost broken down. Well, more than normal. "What do I care? We needed it you moron. So we could get back, so I could start over." I slipped my hand into Five's, which seemed to calm him down more. "Just, just I-"

"It's fine Klaus. Five, let's just leave him be," I said, tugging on his hand.

"Look, interrogation is over," Klaus says, getting off of his bed to walk out.

"Where are you going?"

"It's over, just leave."

I let Klaus go, pulling Five away. As we walked into his room, he backed me against the wall. "Did you really have to kick me twice?" I leaned up, as to kiss him. But instead, went right to his ear and whispered, "What? I thought it was funny." I slipped away from Five, sitting on his bed. "Ok, let's get to work."
