Continuing Immediately Where the Last Chapter Ended

I shivered and then leaned against him. My teeth started chattering uncontrollably. I held onto his side for warmth as we slowly walked in the increasing wind. It was snowing and hard to see so we couldn't just run to my car.

"Why is it so freaking cold?!", I uttered frustrated between teeth chattering.

He held me closer not responding ad we walked to the car.

"I don't think your]'re in the right state of mind to drive. I have a drivers license I can take over", he stated.

I looked at him worried but also upsettingly sad from how cold I was. "But it's snowing!", I managed to shout not because I was mad but because I was too cold to talk at a normal volume.

"I live in Canada, Stace. Do you think I haven't had to drive in snowfall?"

I nodded my head relinquished; I just want to go home.

I gave him the keys and showed him where all of the car functions were and headed to the backseat.

He turned on the ignition and turned on the heater too.

"Try to warm up, okay?"

I nodded barely.

I looked in front of me at the back of a front seat and zoned out.

"Stacy! Stacy!", I heard muffled.

I finally looked in his direction and at the car door, he held open. I stared at him blankly a bit numbly.

"Are you alright?", he asked anxiously.

"W-what? Uh, yeah... I'm fine".

"Come here, we're at your house". He offered his hand to help me up and then hugged me tightly swaying side to side a little and placing his head behind mine as he held me closer.

It was a bit random but I for some reason didn't mind. I'm not sure if I just loved his affection or if I was too cold to care.

We then walked to the front door and he let us in. He left my side to put the car keys down on the dining table and then came back where I still stood dizzy.

"Are you still cold?"

"A bit", was all I could reply with. I had my arms crossed, hugging myself essentially.

"What are you wearing?"

"Three layers"

"But how many hats?"

"One...". He sighed, "No wonder" he breathed and shook his head in disapproval.

I looked at him with a slightly raised eyebrow confused. Sure I was only wearing one beanie but shouldn't the other clothes matter more?

"In this weather, you should wear at least 5 to keep you warm"

He continued explaining "your head and your feet are the most important to keep warm. Otherwise, you'll still be cold"

"Oh", I said looking to the side not sure if I should thank him for letting me know. I couldn't tell if I was being scolded or counseled.

"I only have one", I finally replied.

He sighed then said "it's fine I brought 12", and then smiled faintly at me.

"Wait.. really?"

"Yes, you can have some of them", he replied thinking I was commenting on his offer.

"No, that's not what I meant. You brought that many?" I was in disbelief.

"Yeah, why not?"

I shrugged lost at what to say. His grave expression changed and he chuckled at my ignorance before giving me another hug.

"It's okay. You know now", he said before pecking my cheek twice sliding his arms up to right below my underarms as he pulled me closer. He let go too soon.

"It's nearly 10 and my body aches from some of the bumps we ran into while sledding. I'm heading up to the attic to sleep", at this he turned and started up the stairs. He paused --tired probably-- before continuing, "I'll show you my toques tomorrow morning so you can pick which ones you want", he said yawning.

Dozed I filled the dogs' bowls as well as the cats' with their food knowing I'd wake up late.

Then I wandered and arrived at the bathroom conveniently as soon as Graser finished brushing his teeth. I brushed my teeth and joined Graser in the attic. Page was already there and made it so that I had to sleep on the other side of him.

I lifted one side of the sheets and slipped in beside him before readjusting the covers over him as well. as I turned to my side to do this he pulled me down next to him. My arm flailed unto his torso at the sudden movement.

"I love you" he cooed and kissed my head holding my upper body and cradling me. I smiled appreciatively in the dark at his obscured face and softly hummed with delight. We soon slept soundly huddled and warm.
