Harry's POV
Hagrid didn't know I was deaf. I didn't tell him. It really wasn't something I liked to tell people.

He left me to go into the robe shop alone as he had some business to attend to.

I walked into Madam Malkins and was met by a woman who asked, "Hogwarts dear?" With a kind smile.

I nodded mutely. She led me into the back where a boy was getting measured by a magical measuring tape.

Draco's POV
I was getting fitted in the robe shop when Madam Malkin brought another boy around to the back.

The boy was short with unruly black curls sitting on his head. He wore baggy, worn out clothes and dorky, round glasses held together by a lot of layers of sellotape. He was quite thin and had sunken, shocking green eyes.

Once he stood on the podium, I turned and smiled. He gave a small, shy smile in return before looking away. "What house are you going to be in?" I asked trying to start up a conversation.

I got no answer in return. 'Well, that's a bit rude' I thought to myself. I reached over and tapped his shoulder lightly. He flinched slightly but turned towards me anyway.

"Hey, er, you didn't answer my question. Did you not hear it or..."

"Sorry. I didn't hear it. I have something wrong with my ears. I apologise for my rudeness."

"Right, it's fine. I asked which house you were going into." I told him with a small smile.

"Um, I don't know what you mean." He said quietly.

"Well, there are four Hogwarts houses. Slytherin for the cunning and ambitious, Ravenclaw for the intelligent and thirsty for knowledge, Hufflepuff for the loyal and hardworking and Gryffindor for the brave and chivalrous." I explained trying not to share my very biased opinion. "I'll probably be Slytherin, my entire family was. Either that or Ravenclaw."

"I'm not sure yet. How do they sort you?" The boy asked still really quiet.

"No one really knows other than the people there. It's tradition not to tell the new first years how you get sorted. I heard it's a test but I doubt it really. Hey, we haven't given each other names yet. I'm Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."

"Harry, Harry Potter." He smiled shyly.

"You're done, boys! Here you go. Have a nice day." Madam Malkin dismissed us.

"See you on the train, Harry!" I yelled as he walked away. I didn't receive an answer.

I really couldn't wait for Hogwarts.

Harry's POV

The blond boy, Draco, from the shop seemed nice. 'Maybe we could be friends.' I thought to myself. I had never really had any before. Except for one person. Dudley always scared everyone away. Everyone but one. Andrew.

Andrew always stuck up for me and didn't care if Dudley tried to pick on him. He was a year older and so much smarter than Dudley would ever be.

He didn't care that I was deaf. Only that I was okay. When Andrew moved away, I lost hope of ever being safe again.

But, you didn't come here for that. You came here to hear about my time at Hogwarts. My true home.

The rest of the trip went smoothly.

I eventually had to go back to the miserable place I called home.

As soon as I was through the door, I was practically thrown into the smallest bedroom and my trunk was locked in the cupboard I used to sleep in.

'Only a month to go!' I thought to myself.

I couldn't wait to be out of that hell hole.

After a month of almost complete starvation, it was time to go to Hogwarts. The feeling that it was all just a dream washed over me. I knew inside it wasn't but my brain thought otherwise.

I managed to convince myself that it was real eventually.

We had arrived at kings cross station in the car. My uncle chucked my trunk out onto the floor and yanked my arm hard to hurry me out of it as well.

I looked at my ticket and then to the car which was now speeding off with the Dursleys laughing like madmen inside. How had I only just realised it said platform 9 3/4?

Standing between platforms 9 and 10, I observed but saw nothing indicating there was a platform somewhere in between. I slowly sunk to the floor, tears welling up inside my eyes.

I flinched as I felt two hands on my shoulders. Looking up, I saw two identical redheads. I looked at one. He was talking. I turned my attention to his lips but noticed he kept pausing. 'Oh no! Not twin-speak! I can't tell what they are saying. I'm gonna have to tell them' I thought.

"Um, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I can't understand you. You see, I'm deaf and need to lip read meaning when you use twin-speak I have no idea what you're saying." I sighed, knowing they'd think I was a freak like most people do.

"Oh, we're sorry. We couldn't help but notice you over here on the dirty, public ground crying so we wanted to help you out." One twin said. The other then started talking.

"So, child, whatever are you doing on the floor? Are you lost? Where are your parents? Are you boarding the 11 o'clock?" Man, that twin asked a lot of questions.

"Crying. Yes, I am lost. They're dead. And yes again." I answered quietly.

"Well, fellow pigzits student. Follow us to the platform!" The first twin exclaimed dramatically. I laughed. They both grabbed one of my arms each and dragged me to the wall between platforms 9 and 10.

I looked at them both confused. "We're standing in front of a wall." I pointed out the obvious.

"Yeah. A magic wall! All you have to do is walk through it. It won't hurt, watch! Gred, walk through the wall please."

"You got it Forge!" With that, he walked straight into the wall but instead of crashing, ended up walking through it.

"Amazing! Can I go now?" The boy nodded so I braced myself for impact and walked towards the wall. To my surprise, it never came.

I was met by my definition of noise. A crowd of people. Some dressed like muggles, some in robes. The twins stood behind me.

"Thank you for your help," I said. They helped me get my trunk on the train, then they found out who I was when I brushed my long fringe from my eyes. 'They must think I'm a freak or something.' I thought as they rushed over to a family of redheads, obviously their family.

I took a seat, shoving my trunk under the bench. The door got pushed open by someone. I didn't know who as I had only seen out of the corner of my eye.

Three people had entered the carriage. I saw a girl with a dark bob and a bossy 'I'm better than you' feeling. She wore a light pink/purple coloured robe. A boy with dark skin and eyes stood behind her. He wore a deep purple coloured robe. I quickly looked beyond these two when I saw a flash of blond hair.

Draco Malfoy stood at the back. He wore a forest green robe with intricate silver designs at the hems.

He clearly didn't see who I was at first as he turned to the others and gestured towards me annoyed. A hand grabbed my shoulder and pulled me up. "We've told you to clear out at least 7 times now. How many more times do we have to say it? Clear. Off!" The boy in the dark robes was talking to me.

"S-sorry. I-I didn't hear you. I'll go now..." I managed to wriggle out of his grip and tried to get Hedwig and my trunk. A hand stopped me. It was a softer touch than the last but caused me to flinch nonetheless.

Draco was the one to stop me. "Harry?" He asked with a smile. I nodded my head.
"Draco."
"I'm sorry, we didn't realise it was you. You can stay if you like. We thought you were just some random loner." He laughed somewhat nervously.

"It's okay Draco. I don't want to intrude." I gave a small smile as I tried yet again to walk out.

*A/N* hey. It's me. Again. I really hope you enjoyed. I'll try to update as soon as I can. Byyyyyyyeeeeee.
