Harry's PoV:
Most of our day was spent in either the common room or the library though Andy did go to hang out with his own friends after two hours. At lunch, Pansy death stared us until we got proper food and only let us eat the sugary things after we each had something, in my case, at least one full sandwich, for the others, they had to eat everything on their plates. While my appetite had been improving, it wasn't where it should be still so that's why she wasn't as strict with me.
When dinner came, the same rules applied (and were enforced by the mama bear), we had to eat proper food first then we could have whatever.
Just as I was about to eat my piece of treacle tart, Professor Quirrell burst into the room saying something about a troll then fainted and fell flat on his face which was rather unusual, people usually fall backwards when fainting, at least in my experience they do, Aunt Petunia always did.
Professor Dumbledore stood up after this and said something. I asked Draco and he said, "The idiot told us all to head back to our common rooms, the only problem being that a troll is apparently loose in the dungeons, you know, where the Slytherin common room is."
Pansy turned to us quickly, having remembered something, "Hermione's in the girls bathroom! Weasel said something about her and she's been in there crying for ages now, she's doesn't know about the troll, we have to tell her!"
I agreed and the others followed. As everyone left the hall, we slipped away and ran towards the bathrooms. Just before we got there, a horrible stench filled the corridor and the ground shook every few seconds. A huge thing rounded the corner, it's club dragging behind it, it was the troll, it had escaped the dungeon and was roaming around the castle.
Pansy ran into what I assume to be the bathroom to grab Hermione and run but just after she got in there, the troll followed.
Without thinking, I ran straight into the bathroom, closely followed by the others. Once in there, I saw the girls huddled together under a sink, trying not to get hit by any rubble caused by the beast.
The troll swung its club at the bathroom stalls, smashing them all in one clean sweep. It's next victims were the sinks behind it, luckily, the girls were under the other row. One by one, each sink fell, smashed beyond repair. As soon as it was done, the troll turned to the other sinks. I had to try distract the thing, to give the girls a chance to escape. Blaise and Theo ran over to them, helping them off of the floor and to go find someone to help, while Draco joined me in chucking bits of smashed bathroom stalls at it.
The next thing I knew, there was a giant club swinging at me which I had to dodge as quickly as possible, I didn't want to be knocked unconscious or die by the hands of a troll all because I was stupid enough to throw something at it. Draco was shouting things at it, I'm not sure what exactly he was saying but what I am certain of is that it made the troll angrier.
Throwing things at it seemed to do nothing but annoy it, they just bounced off its thick, rough looking skin. It was too late to run now, the troll would soon catch up and could easily kill us with just one swing of its club.
The one time I was too slow to dodge the club, I managed to hang onto it and was swung around so violently, I'm surprised I didn't go flying off. How the troll didn't have the initiative to just pull me off, I'll never know, apparently trolls are just really stupid. After a while, I couldn't hold on for much longer and was slipping off, luckily, I managed to jump onto the creature's shoulders to avoid making possibly fatal contact with the floor. Instead of trying to pull me off of its shoulders, it started trying to swing its club at me yet again, obviously missing every time because I was out of reach.
It had clearly forgotten about Draco as it's club suddenly flew into the air, not like the troll noticed until a few swings of its arm after though and by then, it was too late, the club had been released from the spell and fell right onto the troll's head, knocking it unconscious. As it fell, I managed to jump off and avoid getting squashed by it.
Just as I hit the ground, Snape, McGonagall and Dumbledore ran in, followed by Blaise, Theo, Pansy and Hermione. They stood, clearly very shocked at the sight.
McGonagall was the first to speak, "What on Earth happened in here?"
Hermione raised her hand just as I was about to speak.
"It was my fault," she spoke, face pale, "I've read about trolls and thought I could stop it, they were trying to stop me but I wouldn't listen and I could've died if they didn't help me. Please don't punish them, it was my fault."
I was shocked, Hermione Granger, a known teacher's pet, was actively lying to not one, but three teachers, all of which have a higher status than a normal teacher, granted, they didn't seem to believe it but it was an explanation none the less and they clearly didn't want to deal with trying to get the truth from us.
Snape then spoke, "Regardless of your reasoning, it was still a very reckless thing to do, all of you. Twenty points from Gryffindor for going after the troll as a first year. Ten points from Slytherin each for putting yourself in danger," he gave a cold, piercing stare towards us, "however you shall each receive five points for the sheer dumb luck of you managing to knock out the troll, not many people, let alone first years, can say they've done something like that. Now, I would like all of you to head back to your common rooms to get some food."
