CHAPTER 8 THEY WERE GOING TO FIND OUT ANYWAYS

I was getting to go back to Beacon when I saw the old shopkeeper hanging a sign. It read WELCOME TO VAIL.

Me: Excuse me sir. Would you like some help?

The guy nodded.

OS: Is the sign straight?

Me: Almost. Just a tad higher on your end.

The guy raised it a small amount.

Me: Perfect.

OS: Thank you. I have been working all night getting ready for the first arrivals. They are coming today from the docks.

Me: Do you know which ones?

OS: Valco last I heard.

Me: Alright. Is there anything I can do to help?

OS: No. I am done.

Me: Okay then sir. Good luck with the newbies. You might be handing out a lot of directions.

He waved and walked away. I kept walking until I heard a voice.

Weiss: The Vytal Festival! Oh, this is absolutely wonderful!

I turned around to see team RWBY walking down the street towards me. I stood there and waited for them.

Ruby: I don't think I've ever seen you smile this much, Weiss. It's kinda weirding me out...

Weiss: How could you not smile? A festival dedicated to the cultures of the world! There will be dances! Parades! A tournament! Oh, the amount of planning and organization that goes into this event is simply breathtaking!

Yang: You really know how to take a good thing and make it sound boring.

Weiss: Quiet, you!

Me: She's is right though. But I do have to give the old shopkeeper a lot of credit. He did most of the decorations here by himself. I showed up just in time to help him straighten a sign.

Me: In the flesh.

I started walking with them. We walked to the docks.

Yang: Remind me again why we're spending our Friday afternoon visiting the stupid docks?

Ruby: Ugh, they smell like fish!

Me: I actually am hungry. I didn't eat breakfast. Anyone know some good seafood places and would be willing to pay for a poor kids meal?

Blake: Me!

Weiss: No one is going anywhere.

I looked down sad. My stomach growled.

Weiss: Anyway, I've heard that students visiting from Vacuo will be arriving by ship today. And, as a representative of Beacon, I feel as though it is my solemn duty to welcome them to this fine kingdom!
