I got home late that night and hoisted myself up towards my bedroom upstairs. I don't have a large house by any mean, but for alone, it is a big house. I sighed and fell asleep quite fast. The next morning, I took a nice long shower and pampered myself with pancakes as breakfast and some orange juice. I grabbed my phone when it went off. 'Skylla? Honey?' Mom asked. A smile stretched on my lips. She's always over proactive, especially after what happened to Chase, my brother. 'Hey mom,' I said. 'How did your mission go? Are you hurt?' she asked. 'I am home. I got home last night. I feel fine, just a little tired, that's all,' I replied. 'But you are hurt?' she asked. 'One cut,' I replied. She sighed softly, 'is it bad? Do I need to come?' she asked. 'No, no... don't be ridiculous. I will see Ratchet today and he'll have a look at it,' I assured her. 'Alright, are you home with the holidays?' she asked. 'I am trying my best, but I can't promise anything. There are a lot of soldiers who want to be home for Christmas,' I said. She hummed. 'Alright hon.'

I heard the sadness in her voice. 'I am sorry mom,' I murmured. Mom is going through a hard time after she lost my father and my brother. I wish I could be there more for her. 'It's alright, Skylla. I know you are busy,' she said. 'It's not a no, just need to settle a few things,' I replied. 'Let me know as soon as you know,' she said. I nodded, even she couldn't see it. 'I will, don't worry. Perhaps I will catch a plane next weekend to visit you. I have a few days off,' I replied. 'That would be great. I really miss you,' she said. 'I know, I miss you too,' I said. 'See you soon.' She disconnected the call. I am really worried about her and her mental health. It sucks she lives so far away from me. I can't drive to her in just an hour. She lives in San Francisco. The place where I grew up as well.

I cleaned up the table before leaving the house to do some groceries. Entering the grocery store, I bumped into Sunstreaker. 'Hey...' He glanced at me. 'Hey...' he muttered and passed me. I glanced at him. Sunstreaker seemed to be lost in his own world. He caught my eyes again, 'what?' he snapped. I raised my hands and grabbed what I needed before I walked off towards the other part of the store. I could still see him as he payed for the food. The cassier smiled at him. Sunstreaker didn't return and shot her a murderous glare before walking off, leaving the cassier red headed. She looked around to see if anyone had seen what just happened. I turned my head away and continued shopping.

As I got back home, I unpacked everything before I sat down and checked my wound. It looks nasty, infected for sure. I guess I have to make a stop at the base today to get that fixed. Ratchet and I have a good relationship. We met even before I came working here. Performed surgery on me a couple of times and also on my mother. He was the medic who had tried to save my brother. I never blamed him he couldn't save him but I was glad we kept in touch. Sometimes, he came to have dinner with us. I know I can tell him everything and I trusted him blindly.

I headed towards the base to search for Ratchet. I didn't had to look far. The medic just strode into the hanger. 'Hey, Ratchet.' He looked up and smiled. 'Skylla.' We embraced. 'You're okay? How's your mother doing?' he asked. 'My mom... it could be better but she's okay. She's going through a hard time now she lost both my brother and my father,' I sighed. 'I will visit her somewhere this month,' he said. I smiled, 'thanks. I have cut and I think it's a little infected,' I said. 'I told you to not cleean your own wounds,' he said strictly. I smiled, 'I was trying to save you some work,' I joked. He snorted and gestured to me to follow him.

'There was something else I noticed... did Sunstreaker stay over in your room the other day?' he asked. I nodded, 'he asked if there was some room for him so I let him in. He would've gotten what he wanted anyway. WIth or without my permission,' I said. 'Yes, and you don't have to question her about it.' The deep dangerous voice sent shivers down my spine and Ratchet had the exact same reaction. We turned. 'I was just curious, that's all,' Ratchet snapped. The front liner glanced at me. I looked away to avoid his soulless eyes. 'I have to go. Come on Ratchet.'

I turned my back towards Sunstreaker and walked off. 'You have a lot of courage to turn your back on him,' Ratchet said quietly. 'I don't talk to mechs if they're rude. Regardless their species,' I stated and tilted my head in the air. 'At least he asked politely if he could stay in my room the other day,' I said. He hummed and pushed open the door to the medbay. After he patched me up, I was released. On my way outside, I spotted Sunstreaker. He approached me. 'Walking off?' he asked. I crossed my arms. 'I don't talk to rude mechs. We talk if you can be polite and if you can't... I will keep walking off. I don't care what you will do to me. Just pointing out my thoughts. Now if you excuse me.... I have to go and better than things to do than talking to a prick like you,' I snapped and pushed him out of the way. He was speechless and he better is.
