Dorian and Chaol walked formally, a good distance behind the two girls who played with the wolf pup that ran around their legs, bashing up the flower beds. Chaol held a hand on his sword, there was nothing he trusted about the wolf. His worst fear was seeing it with y/n's neck in its mouth.
"Where did you find the wolf?" Dorian asked, Chaol had several questions for him, seeing as he was forever breeding dogs in the private kennels.
"On that road between the Avery River and the Ararac Hills." Chaol said, praying that Dorian could make sense of this.
Chaol envied his best friend, who manged to walk around the garden nodding and smiling humbly at every group of ladies we passed. Chaol could hardly struggle out a nod, his only smiles saved for times he saw or thought of y/n naked. He smiled now in fact as she sneaked him a grin.
"How old is she?" Dorian asked.
"Err." Chaol racked his brains. "Lady Saskia has been saying it is around eight to ten weeks."
"She's huge!" Dorian exclaimed. "Its bigger than any male husky I've raised."
Chaol groaned inwardly. "Shit I was hoping she would be the runt."
Dorian laughed, birds singing at the sound. "She may be the runt for whatever wolf breed she is, but she will be the largest in the kennels by some way.... I assume she will be staying there?"
Chaol shrugged. "I have no idea, it has spent the past five nights in our bloody room."
Dorian laughed at his friends misery, Chaol was going to have to suffer a lot more if y/n kept the wolf, it would only become a bigger problem. A colossal problem, as they watched it almost knock y/n off her feet. Chaol dashing forwards to catch her, luckily y/n caught herself on a fountain wall, laughing it off. She clasped his arm, kissing him before making a huge fuss over the pup. Chaol returned scowling. "She is besotted with it."
Dorian agreed at the fuss the two girls made over the black wolf pup. He sighed, knowing he had to bring up the conversation that he hated and Chaol lothed. "Did you get the letter?"
Chaol freezed up, the air catching in the back of his throat. "Yes."
"And?" The prince asked, looking up to his tall muscular friend.
Chaol gritted his jaw. "Not much else." He was lying, he could feel the sweat running down his back at the thoughy of having to see his father again. "Do you know what he wants?"
Dorian sighed again, running his hand through his dark locks. "No sorry, I will try to find out but he is supposedly arriving tomorrow lunch time."
Chaol took a deep breath praying for the ground to swollow him up, he noticed the two girls flashing giggling looks at them and struggled a smile. He would have to warn y/n, his father would show no kindness to her.

Saskia and I looked back at the men. "So how come the prince likes to go for walks with you and the captain?" Saskia asked.
I raised my eyebrow, I knew my friend was smittening on the prince big time, and had taken it as my job to get the message across to Dorian. "We knew each other in Cithrí, Dorian did us a huge lot of favours."
Saskia took her time to note it down mentally, her dark brown hair was tied up into a pony tail with many ribons down it, the front combed back with wax to be smooth. "So are you his closest friend?"
I shook my head, jabbing a thumb back at Chaol. "They're best friends, feel like I'm third wheeling sometimes." We both laughed, not noticing Shadow doing her business over in the queens roses. "Oh shit." I cursed running after her and picking her up mid pee. I moved her over to the next flower bed - the tulips. "There you go." I clapped my hands together.

"Does the prince like to marry for love?" Saskia asked, eying up the men. I'm certain I was concentrating on the wrong man, Chaol had put on a tight leather tunic today, his hair washed, and his chisled jaw freshly shaved. He ran his hands through his hair, the muscles in his arms bulging. I squirmed at the thought of them wrapped around me, his hands gripping my tighs as he pressed me against the wall, his lips on my neck.
"Umm." I snapped myself back to reality, Shadow now at my feet, sat on my toes. "Yes I think so, his father says he can."
Saskia sighed, which confused me a little but I didn't mention it as Dorian came over, begging us farewell, a kiss on the back of our hands.
Chaol took his leave too, off to a meeting, he bowed to Saskia and gave me a small hug, scowling at the wolf and telling us to be watchful of Shadow.
