Yourname was woken to thrown back curtains, and striking sunlight. She groaned, tossing a pillow over her eyes and found her bed colder than when she had entered it. The right hand side of the bed was empty, not even an imprint in the matress or pillow, only a dark strand as evidence. She rolled onto her back and smiled. She had done it! She had really breached that line that she had been forbayed to do so for years. And she had done it with Chaol. It wasn't how she pictured it, she thought it would be more magestic and less.... sweaty. She smiled helplessly, biting into the back of her hand. He had been so incredibly sweet, so careful and loving.
"I have chosen a sunset dress for you my lady." The maid said, entering with a dress across her arms. She was correct, it was sunset coloured, great oranges and reds.
Y/n kept the covers close to her body. "I am capable of choosing my own outfit."
The maid smiled and curtsied. "I never doubted it my lady."
Y/n snatched up the clean underwear the maid handed her, and changed under the covers. However she didn't wear the dress, she delve into her bag and pulled out the clothes they had found her in. The charred holes had been patched up, and all the ash had been washed out of the fibres. That didn't mean the smokey smell was gone. She shut her eyes, her hands and back tingled. She slipped behind the dressing screen and changed. "Umm, excuse me." Y/n called over the screen. The maid was older than y/n, and she was embarrassed to ask. "I was wondering if there is a healer around."
The maid's eyebrows lifted. "Yes, there is one my lady, shall I fetch him?"
"No!" Y/n panicked. "Umm, I just need some stuff from him."
The maid smiled. "What sort of stuff my lady?"
Y/n was so panicked now she couldn't do up her buttoned blouse, she kept fumbling and putting the wrong one in the wrong hole. If anyone found out she was in need of a contraceptive drink she might as well spend a night in Danylynn's cell. Y/n scrambled out from behind the dresser, her top barely covering her. She frantically wrote a list of words on some paper, folded it and handed it to the maid. "Just give that to him please."
The maid unfolded it and read the list her face neutral until the end, where y/n had written in very small, scribbly hand writing 'contraceptive drink'.
The maid put on a strangled smiled and folded the paper, pocketing it. "Of course my lady." She curtsied, and left the room.Y/n finished correcting her buttons, stuffing all the loose clothes back into her bag and left the room. The guards snapped to attention with a clanging of metal. They followed her as she made her way through the corridors towards the stables, which she had been forced to get very familiar with yesterday. She was walking down a long stretch of the mansion, windows lining the walls, when the captain walked around the corner. Y/n smirked as she heard the men behind her straighten even more. "Good morning captain." She called to him, unable to stop grinning.
"My lady." He replied. He was dripping in sweat, his white shirt clung to his torso and it was quite a sight to behold. It was like the gods had chisled him from the greatest mountain in the White Fang Mountians. She could remember seeing that over her last night, she smiled more. Chaol surveyed her outfit, but said nothing of it. "Where are you off to this morning my lady?"
"I am going for a ride."
Chaol dismissed the gaurd behind and took me to arm, guiding me back the way I had come. "I'm afraid we don't have time for that. I got the maid to wake you up early for breakfast, we want to be on road as soon as we can."
Y/n groaned, that meant another full day in the carriage. "But you've been out this morning."
He chuckled, smelling himself, he did smell bad. "Me running is quite different to you riding."
She rolled her eyes and slumped down a bit. "Fine."
Chaol was studying her, she could feel it. He was probably thinking about last night. "Chaol?"
"Yes my lady." He replied, taking her back to the corridor with her room on.
"About last night..."
He cut her off. "Don't talk about that." His hold on her arm tightened and he pulled her into a different room, there were clothes laid out of the bed, folded neatly, bags organised on a chair. She peered at the uniform and recognised it to be his. This was his bedroom.
She shrugged off his hold.
"I'm sorry." Chaol sighed, running his hand through his hair. "If anyone knew what we did..."
She nodded. "I know. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed it."
Chaol smiled and his cheeks tainted red. Was he blushing? "Really?"
She nodded, looping her arms around his neck and playing with his damp hair. "Yes really."
Chaol kissed her quickly, before pushing her back a step. "I need to wash, stay here and we'll go down for breakfast."
She sighed, kissing him once more. It was strange how casual it was now, it was as if she had been kissing him for years. "Be quick."
He snatched up his uniform and strode into the other room.
