Darkness surrounded them, the streetlights barely cutting through the thick fog and the sky void of any stars or moon.
The only reminder that they weren't in an abyss was the sounds of their shoes hitting the concrete paths, slick with earlier rain.Even through the thick jumper, the cold nipped his skin, a pack of wild dogs hunting their next meal.
Shivering, he let out a breath, which quickly froze into the air, melding into the fog. He was sure if his beanie wasn't covering his ears, they would've fallen off."We'll just search for another ten minutes, then we'll head back," the older male assured him, rubbing his arms in hopes of fighting off the cold.
His pink-faced friend nodded, shuddering again. He knew this venture was in vain. It was crystal clear, especially with the vapour veil to cover it. He would've cried of he wasn't afraid of the tears freezing."Johnny!" Colon called through the shadows and mist half-heartedly. Part of him was starting to feel hopeless, the cold shutting down his senses and making him borderline lethargic.
"..... C- Colon....?"
A weak voice muttered, echoing through the damp air.
Colon looked to Spooker, believing he'd said it, but the wide-eyed, jaw-dropped face was enough to tell him it wasn't."Ghost?! Where are you?!"
".... o- over here...."
The voice cracked, sounding.... forced.'It's probably just the cold....' Colon struggled to convince himself. A thought was threatening to smother the preferable option though.
'What of its someone pretending to be him? .... or something?'
Nevertheless, he picked up speed, following the voice.Depite every bone, nerve and instinct in his body begging him to keep away from the voice, the idea of being alone filled him with just as much dread; forcing Spooker to follow.
After all, if you split up, the murderer will pick you off one by one....
