The two found a hotel room quite easily. The hotel chosen was above average and quite expensive, which was not a problem for either Nate or Alex. Both had come from families with lots of money, and both had done quite well in providing for themselves when working. Regardless, Nate had insisted that he would be paying for the room. Alex admired Nate even more for this and thought about how he was such a gentleman. Alex knew she had picked the right guy again. This time just needed to last.
The two walked into the hotel room, they had gotten two beds for the sake of not actually knowing each other well enough to share a bed. It had come past the point of a teacher and a student having a relationship and was now more about the actuality of what their relationship had become. Alex knew she could have easily gotten her own room, but Nate had proposed the idea, and Alex was quite elated about it. The day had kept getting better for Alex as she was reaching her targeted goal; for Nate to be hers.
"Nice room, hey?"
Alex looked around the room. The walls were painted a light creamy beige colour. The mounted black flat screen standing out against the light walls. A glass wall with a glass door that led to a balcony with a view of a cityscape and a mountain range behind it. The beds had white bedding with a mahogany bed runner to accent the soft luxurious bed. The portraits behind the beds were photographs of local scenic trails or parks. A large light fixture hung, not quite exquisite enough to be considered a chandelier.
Alex snapped out of her daydream of admiration. She looked over to Nate who had been watching her. She noticed how Nate was the one that was finally watching her and not the other way around. She usually noticed when she attracted attention, but this time and this time only, she had not.
"I'm going to get some fresh air."
"Some fresh air?" His eyebrow raised.
"Yes, like outside, and air..."
Nate chuckled and shook his head. The hair that had slightly overgrown fell into his eyes. He watched her again as she began to walk towards the balcony door.
"You can join me if you want."
"Oh?"
"What?"
"It just seemed like you've been the one who's not interested anymore."
"The more interested I become the more I try to pull away."
"Why?"
"Because of you."
"Because of me?"
"Yeah."
"I don't understand."
"Because you didn't want this to happen and I feel guilty and you–"
Nate had started to close in on her. She was standing near the door to the balcony. He continued closer, and Alex backed into the glass window, feigning timidness.
"Alex..."
He closed in on her as though he were the predator. They were just barely touching, but Alex could feel everything. She could hear both of their heartbeats pounding, both of their breaths; Nate's was caught in his throat and hers was ragged. She could feel their pulses as they raced. She looked into his eyes and could feel his eyes stare down into her.
"Nate..."
Nate's lips went to hers in less than a second after his name escaped Alex's lips. She was slow to respond as he had taken her off guard. He was the only person who had ever taken her off guard like this before. She was more entranced by her inability to read Nate than the fact that she had gotten what she had wanted. Nate noticed her lack of interest in the kiss and started to pull away. Alex grabbed his shirt in her fists and pulled him back towards her.
"Don't stop."
