Keiran entered the cafeteria. He looked around but didn't see Belle. From the moment he entered the school building in the morning, he had been looking for her, but there was no sign of her. He sat on an empty seat, placed his tray on the table.

'Should I message her or not?' He saved her number on the day she called him when she was inquiring about her lost journal. He decided not to call her, he wanted to go smooth and slow with her. He knew if he messaged her, she was going to make a big scene out of it like she did the two days ago when he wanted to search the diary with her.

"Hey there," Keiran heard a soft voice. He immediately looked up and saw the tanned barbie, Lizzie, standing in front of him. She was smiling brightly, a strand of hair between her index and middle finger. She was twisting her hair while waiting for his reply.

"Hey," Keiran replied, giving her a smile.

"Why are you sitting alone?" She asked.

Now Keiran didn't want to bring up the fact that he was waiting for a girl, who's lonely. So, in response, he just shrugged his shoulder. "No specific reasons."

Lizzie giggled "A spare chair is available at our table. You can join us," she said, winking at him and then walking towards her table.

Keiran didn't mind eating lunch with the popular kids of school. He picked up his tray and followed her to the table. There were four students, including Lizzie, at the table.

"Ahem ahem. Guys meet Keiran, the new guy," Lizzie said, looking at her friends, her finger pointing at Keiran.

"And Keiran, this is my friend Elle, Josh, and Kohl," She continued. This time she was looking at Keiran and pointing at them.

Elle had sharp features, a small sharp nose, nicely shaped eyes and big lips, her dirty blonde hair tied in a high ponytail.

Everyone waved at him and he sat down on one of the chairs between Josh and Lizzie. "Tell us about yourself Keiran?" Elle said, now facing Keiran.

"Yeah," Josh said after Elle.

"Hum, I'm here to live with my aunt. She needed someone to help her in shifting her stuff to the new house, so she called me, and also for protection reasons," Keiran said, with everyone listening to him.

After that one question, Keiran felt invisible to them. The whole time, he was just listening to their gossips, even the guys in the group were gossip material. They were discussing every single person who was sitting in the cafeteria.

"Okay, so-" Kohl was about to ask something else, but Lizzie cut her off saying "Oh! Guys, look, she's not here today," Lizzie said, looking around the cafeteria one more time. Keiran was doubting that they weren't talking about Belle.

"Yeah, she's so fake, right," Ella replied. Their tone sounded like they didn't like Belle very much.

"Yeah, such an attention seeker. I still cannot believe she insulted me on the first day after winter vacations," Lizzie said, it seems as if she was deep in thoughts, thinking about that day.

"Get over it, Lizzie," Josh said, shooting a glare at her.

"How can I? Josh, gosh! She's so stupid, I mean, have you seen her acting to be all depressed and shit, it's so perfect. She should be cast in a -" Lizzie voice was high now and Keiran could feel his blood boil cut her off.

"Maybe it's not acting," Keiran said with a serious face.

He didn't want to defend Belle in front of them. He didn't want to leave a wrong impression on them, but the way they were judging her was making him angry because they didn't know what she's been through. They haven't read the journal, but he has.
