The next two days passed without anything special happening, although they found the lake at the end of the second day. They had stayed near the road but in the woods, it'd be too easy for someone to spot them if they stayed on the road.

Clementine noticed a change in Gabe over these two days, he was....calmer? He didn't feel the same, he seemed to be almost cool-headed. He wasn't fired up, he had a quiet strength. He still smiled at Clem and was nice but he was definitely more reserved . She got the feeling he was thinking hard. She hoped he was doing ok. "I wonder if I should ask him?.....Nah he'll talk when he's ready" She thought, but she still turned her head to check on him,a worried look on her face. Gabe was lagging a few paces behind Clem, there was no smile and he stared straight ahead. When he saw Clem look at him, he gave a little smile, but it faded and he starting staring into space again.

Finally on the third day Clem had enough, she stopped and faced Gabe head on, who gave her a surprised look. "What is it?" She asked, her voice rough from not-talking.

"What?" Gabe said confused.

"Don't give me 'what', tell me what your problem is!" Clem said putting her hands on her hips.

"I...I don't..." Gabe stammered

"Gabe." Clem said sternly.

Gabe sighed, " Fine...That night we talked about Mari, I settled my grief with her, but then....all my other problems hit that morning. Like how I treated Kate, I wasn't nice to her Clem, especially when...." He put a hand on his head, "When I ran away, I wasn't nice to you at that time,I treated you and everyone there like shit, it wasn't right and I'm sorry I did that to you Clem. The last thing I ever did to Kate was run away from her, I never should of left, I never said goodbye to her Clem...and my dad, I didn't even say goodbye to him, what if I don't see him again? What if me or him die and we never make up? What if-" Gabe said before Clem interrupted him

"Gabe you can't let-" Clem said before she heard something : A horse.

She immediately crouched down and moved into some nearby bushes as did Gabe a second later, he slowly moved next to her and looked to see what was happening.

A procession of horses, people with guns, and carriages were moving down the road towards Gabe and Clementine's direction.

"What is this? Who are these people?" Gabe asked in a whisper, although the group wasn't that close.

"I don't know, but look at how many there are." Clem said quietly.

Gabe looked past the first couple people(who had past them now) and saw the line went on for miles.

"What the fuck is this?" Gabe whispered, he had never seen so many people,guns, and animals together before.

Clem whispered back, " I don't know what they want but they look like they're on the warpath. They're probably going to- oh shit." Clem covered her mouth.

"What?.....oh." Gabe could think of only one place nearby that an army would have a interest in taking : Richmond.

Gabe's breathing speed up. "No, No,No,NO,NO!" He thought.

"Look Gabe, the best thing we can do is-" Clem said,before she realized : Gabe was gone.
