daniel hugged jonah, then zach, then jack.
"bye, dani." ryan spoke quietly and daniel frowned slightly. he picked the small boy up and held him close.
"i'll be back sometime later, ry, i promise." the boy nodded and laid against him. in all honesty, daniel didn't want to leave the boys, but it was for the better. he needed time to himself.
after corbyn's death, he couldn't think right. he knew the other four would be fine without him for a few weeks. he kissed ryan's cheek.
"i'll be fine, you guys. i-i...i just need time." he spoke softly and jonah nodded.
"we all do, but for now, go." jack said and he nodded to the boys. he set ryan down and then looked at the others.
"stay safe, guys. i don't wanna have to come back because another of you died. okay?" they all nodded and daniel hugged them all one last time. he kissed jonah, jack and zach's cheeks before leaving.
"bye, guys." three 'bye's' followed after and daniel smiled softly, sadly. he walked off to his car and slid in. the car turned on and he drove away from the base. he was heading to his safe house he had built with jack, zach, and corbyn.
it pained him to go back, but he had no other place besides this. he slowly pulled up a few hours later. he parked the car and slid out again. it turned off and he walked up the steps. his fingertips brushed the wood and he smiled.
some work needed to be done and he knew corbyn would help him.
