The Next Day

Aaron Pov

Today's the big day. It's game day. THE game. The one the determines the state champions. We're going against the North Shore High; home of the Lions. They're the only team, other than us, to have defeated every other team in our district. I'm nervous, but I have to remember that this is just the school team. I've versed way harder teams in my club outside of school, but I can't let everyone down. I know that all of my friends and family will be there on the stands, cheering me on. I still don't know what's going to happen with the whole "getting in a fight with Spencer" thing, but I have to be ready no matter what.

At School

Alex: Are you ready for today, bro?

Aaron: Of course! Games like this is what I live for.

Alex: Atta boy!

I chuckle and continue walking down the hallway to meet up with everyone.

Kian: Look who it is!!

David: You've got a big game today, man!

Franny: Team BURRISSSSSS!!

Aaron: Thanks, guys. But, I'm not the only one on the team so...

Fousey: But, you're the captain! Give yourself some credit..

Roni: Yeah, Aaron. You need to stop being so hard on yourself.

Aaron: Whatever you guys say...

Roni: Of course you're being stubborn.

Roni chuckles at me, revealing her dimple. I can't help but smile back at her.

Aaron: Hey! What is that supposed to mean!?!

Roni: You're the most stubborn person I know.

Aaron: Well, you're the most annoying, so I guess it evens out.

Roni: Shut up.

Aaron: "Shut up" I mock

Roni hits my shoulder and rolls her eyes. It makes me laugh at her even more. We continue giggling with everyone smiling at our silliness, until Sydney walks over, and it suddenly muffles the laughter.

Sydney: Hey, guys.

Everyone: Hey!

Nessa: You're coming to the game after school, right?

Sydney: Yeah, of course. It's the biggest game of the season.

Kian: And your boyfriend is the captain...so you better be there...

Sydney: Actually----

*Bell Rings

Alex: C'mon, let's get to class.

Roni and I stand side by side while we walk to class together.

Roni: Where did Sydney go?

I looked at my surrounding, and couldn't find Sydney anywhere.

Aaron: Don't know.

Roni: So, you nervous for the game today???

Aaron: I guess...

Roni: Why "I guess"? Are you not nervous or something?

Aaron: I'm not nervous about losing, I just don't want to let you guys down, let alone the whole school down.
