Extracting blood from the vein in Hoseok's arm, the nurses finalized the necessary pre-operative tests for the surgery.
Hoseok slightly hissed at the sensation but was mostly quiet due to excessive anxiety. He's never undertaken any operation before. Thus, his heart was hammering behind his ribcage.
Next, taking the needle out of his arm, a nurse cleaned any excess blood on his skin before taking his sample to the laboratory.
Hoseok sighed and pouted cutely, causing Jimin to stifle a laugh.
"What are you laughing at?" Hoseok whined making Jimin laugh even more. Hoseok stopped pouting and smiled at Jimin's adorable laugh.
Despite all the frustration and stress that came with chemo, plus the current anxiety over the surgery, they still utilized every opportunity they got to have fun and enjoy themselves. That's what Hoseok fought the oblivion for; Jimin's laughter and joy.
"Well gentlemen, its lecture time," Dr. Wexler spoke in a hilarious accent that triggered more laughs from the boys, "first, you should know that the average survival rate of your group usually ranges from 20 to 40 percent. However, since your case is quite unique, response-wise, its roughly 80 to 90 percent. Second, the operation would take around 2 hours for that its a limb-sparing surgery (removing the tumor without amputation and then replacing the removed tissue with a tissue graft or implant). Got it?" Hoseok and Jimin nodded in understanding.
"The operating room is ready, doctor," a nurse informed. Dr. Wexler simply nodded and beckoned her to call the anesthesiologist.
"You ready, Hobi?" Jimin asked, and to that Hoseok smiled reluctantly, suddenly feeling nervous again.
Soon after, a breathing mask was placed on Hoseok's face, and as he inhaled the anesthetic, he was immediately pulled into unconsciousness. After that, the nurses escorted him to the operating room.
Jimin's eyes followed the nurses wearily as they hauled his friend away, an evident wave of concern brimming his eyes.
Dr. Wexler noticed that and placed a hand assuringly on Jimin's shoulder, saying, "Don't worry, he's a stubborn fighter." Jimin slightly relaxed at the gesture and tried pulling himself back together.
"You can do this, Hobi. I believe in you, " he whispered to himself.
