Tess interrogated me immediately when I got home. He let me sat down on the wooden, old chair.
"I bet you have something to tell."
"Not much Tess. We jsut talked."
"And?"
"Its ... its great talking to a real human being, like him."
"That's good."
"Uhm, Tess?" She looked at me, perhaps confused on what will I ask.
"When is your birthday?"
" May twenty-one, why'd you ask?"
"What do you do when it is your birthday?"
"Nothing but If I were a human, I would ce;ebrate it, call some of my family and friends and many more. But since I'm aborted too, birthday is just an ordinary day for me."
We talked a little longer, catching up on Tess' experiences of being a human but she refused to tell some. She told me she failed in her mission -- which is like mine, to find my mother, because she enjoys too much on earth.
"But I never regret anything that happened to me here on earth.." I remembered what Tess told me. It was near seven p.m. when we finished talking.
While we were eating, she was busy talking but I'm not in the mood to listen because I was thinking what if I will go to Drake's birthday. I know Drake's feel something bad about me earlier.
"Margaux?"
"Sorry Tess. What is it you're saying?"
"You don't hear it? Well, I've been talking to you but you're not in yourself. Is there something bothering you? Or perhaps, someone?"
"Well, you're right. You see, I'm thinking about Drake. Earlier, he wants me to go to his birthday but I refused because it was getting darker and I don't want you to be worried about me."
"Silly kid. If you have just told me earlier, I would let you go."
"Really?"
"Margaux, can't you see, its your chance for you to get closer to him."
"So you're saying that I can go to his birthday?"
She smiled and that gave me a hint. "What else?"
Okay.
TESS JUST LET ME GO TO DRAKE'S BIRTHDAY AND I'M VERY HAPPY!
"Thank you Tess," I managed to calm myself in front of her and hugged her.
"Be home before 11. Okay?"
I was about to walk through our door when Tess laughed.
"Why Tess?"
Then she looked at my feet.
Oh great! I'm barefooted!
