It had been five days since my audition. I still hadn't heard anything. I was starting to think they'd never let me know. Why did I even audition in the first place? I have to go to college soon. I can't drop everything just to wait and find out if I got in or not. I spent most of my time during the day near my phone, eager for it time ring.

"This is just part of the process" Elycia assured me

"I know. Patience is a virtue." I said.

"You said Aaron Tveit was at the audition" Derek said. "Maybe I should call him"

"No Derek don't do that!" I pleaded "I don't want to come off as desperate"

"You won't. Patience may be a virtue, but it's not one of mine" He said.

"Derek don't." Elycia said. "You're the one who understands most what it feels like to wait. That's all we can do."

Derek and I both sighed because we knew Elycia was right. Why did she always have to be so wise? Ugh waiting is miserable! All I want to know is if I got in. I started making my self a bowl of pity ice cream.

When I sat down at the kitchen table with my ice cream my phone lit up and started ringing. I didn't recognize the number. I shot a look at Derek who was looking right at me. His eyes were huge.

"Answer it" He said.

"I can't"

"What do you mean you can't?"

"I'm too nervous" I slid the phone down the table to him.

"I can't answ-"

"Answer it!" Elycia and I yelled at the same time.

"Hello?" Derek said answering the call. "Yes this is her number"... "Who am I? Oh I'm her... I'm her..."

'Manager' I mouthed.

"Manager! I am her manager"

I couldn't read the look on Derek's face which scared me. I could always tell what kind of news Derek had just by the look on her face.

"Uh huh...uh huh...yep...sure thing" the small smile on Derek's face slowing started to fade into disappointment I knew instantly what that meant. I didn't get it.

"Yeah....uh huh...I'll let her know....thank you...you too...goodbye" Derek hung up the phone and sighed. I couldn't make eye contact with him. I should've known four days wasn't near enough time to rehearse for the audition. What was I thinking? I started stuffing my face with ice cream. Trying to hold back tears.

"You got the part" Derek sighed.

I chocked on my ice cream. "What?"

"You got the part" he repeated.

A sudden since of relief came upon me.
Derek picked me up and started cheering "Here she is ladies and gents! Eponine in the 3rd revival of of Les Miserables on Broadway!"

Tears started pouring from my eyes. My dream is coming true. I'm going to be on broadway. I punched Derek in the shoulder. He put me down.

"Ow" He said holding his arm "What was that for?"

"You made me think I didn't get it!" I yelled "never do that again!"
