"He saw the show?!" Lydia practically screamed of excitement through my computer screen. We were FaceTiming, so I told her about my dad's visit.

"Yes he did" I said turning down my laptop volume so the entire apartment complex wouldn't hear it.

"Well what did he think?" She asked. "He said he loved it" I answered. "And that he was proud of me"

Lydia squealed and did a little happy dance. "Hads, that's so amazing! I'm so happy for you! What about your mom?"

"She still won't talk to me" I said. Lydia frowned but quickly found a way to cheer me up. "At least your dad had the balls to stop listening to her and support you. Which, is what he should've done from the very beginning"

"I know. But enough about me. How's midterms?" I asked. Lydia let out a long and overdramatic groan while slipping out of her chair. "We do not speak of midterms. They are a curse sent from Satan himself."

I laughed. Oh, how I've missed Lydia's way of overdramatizing everything.

"I just wish I could get them over with and come be in New York with you" she said. "New York would be even more fun with you!" I said. Lydia and I have never gone this long without seeing each other. Not since we were six. It felt weird not always having her by my side and not seeing her face at least twice a day.

"Don't remind me. I'm already mad enough my parents won't let me spend some of winter break with you because of how much plane tickets cost. I can't believe my best friend is on the Broadway and I can't even be there to see her kick butt!" She said. Tears started forming in her eyes. Before I knew it, tears were forming in my eyes too. Talking to Lydia always makes me homesick. It makes me realize how much things have changed since high school. At the same time, it makes me realize how blessed I am to have such an amazing best friend. Not everyone has one. I still couldn't help but wish Lydia went to NYU instead of UCLA.

"Speaking of broadway stars" Lydia said getting herself under control, so she wouldn't cry. "Why didn't you tell me you have a boyfriend?"

Oh right, I have a boyfriend. Considering how crazy everything got last night I kind of forgot. Yikes, I'm already the worst girlfriend on planet earth.

"After everything that happened last night with my dad, it kind of slipped my mind" I explained. "Besides we just became official last night after the show"

"Have you kissed him yet?" She asked. I immediately started blushing. "Oh my gosh you have! How long ago?"

"After he walked me home from the first night of previews."

"Hadley Maria Parker why don't you tell me anything!" Lydia yelled. She wasn't mad, she was just overly excited. "I thought I was your best friend!"

"You are!" I said back quickly. "Everything has been a roller coaster lately. None of it was intentional."

"I know, I know. I just miss you" She said. "I miss you too!" I said. "Well, I have to go to study group. These forsaken midterms aren't going to pass themselves." We both laughed.

"Study hard and pass and maybe your parents will change their mind about you coming to New York" I suggested. "Ugh I wish!" Lydia moaned.

"Bye." I said. "I love you"

"I love you too" Lydia said back and then ended the call.

I went over to my bed where Sherlock was all snuggled up. He has this new fascination with lying under my covers. I pulled the covers back and patted him. He barked until I put the covers back over him.
