"The sun will rise!" We all sang the last lyric of the epilogue. The audience gave a standing ovation and the lights went out. We went off stage and got ready for the curtain call. After the show, I changed back into my street clothes. It was New Year's Eve and 30 degrees outside. I was wearing three T-shirt's, a long sleeve shirt and Seth's Harvard sweatshirt that I stole a while ago. The only thing I worried about getting cold were my legs. I only had a pair of leggings on. Although, I did bring my fluffy boot socks so my feet and part of my legs would be warm. I slipped on my vans and my love your melon beanie.
Christy giggled when she saw me. "You are definitely prepared for the cold." I get it, I probably look insane.
"You better believe it" I said "I even made hot tea to help keep me warm"
Christy laughed. "I'll see you at your New Year's party!"
"Can't wait!" I said gathering the rest of my things together.
I walked out into the hallway and saw Seth waiting for me as he always does. He laughed when he saw me too.
"Glad to see my stolen sweatshirt has come to good use" He said. "Oh it has! It's so big I'm able to wear four shirts under it" I said.
We both laughed and walked towards the stage door. The cold air hit us immediately as the door opened. The crowd wasn't as big as it is usually but there were still a lot of people waiting for us to come out.
They all started cheering when they saw us walk out. I pulled out my sharpie and stared signing.
"Seriously how can you guys stand being out in the cold this long?" I asked one of the fans while I signed her Playbill. "I can barley feel my fingers and I've only been out here for five minutes"
"You guys are worth it" she smiled. Hearing her say that made me feel so loved. I gave her a hug and took a quick picture with her and moved down the line.
I was so cold, my hands were shaking while I signing things. Then I remembered, my hot tea. Maybe it's not frozen yet. I pulled out my thermos and took a sip. It was still warm. With the first sip I took I could feel it warm the inside of my body. I took another sip.
"Hey no drinking on the job" Seth said and all those who heard it laugh.
"It's hot tea you doof, I'm cold" I said. Some people in the crowd were probably videoing our conversation as they always do. Of course we don't mind that they were. Seth turned to one girl who was obviously recording and got real close to her camera.
"Did you hear that? She called me a doof." He said. "Why do I even date her?"
"Because you love me" I said playfully smacking his arm. He laughed. "Oh yeah" and then kissed me on the cheek.
"You guys are too cute!" A girl said. "Can I get a picture with you both?"
"Of course!" I said at the same time Seth said "Definitely!"
The girl stuck her arm out for a selfie and Seth and I leaned in next to her to be closer to the camera. She took the picture.
"Oh that's definitely going on Instagram!" She said. "Don't forget to tag me" Seth said.
"Ignore him. He's desperate for followers" I joked and Seth acted offended. Then we proceeded to go down the rest of the line.
*****
"I can't feel my fingers or my toes" I said once Seth and I finished signing everything. "Me either." He said. "Let's take a cab back to your apartment"
