I'd be lying if I said I haven't been stressing over this "date" for the past couple of weeks. So many different scenarios came to mind. I'd say something dumb, I'd do something dumb, Derek would be a doofus. Or worse I'll be a huge bore the whole night and he'll want to get two hours of his life back.

"Hey, you okay?" Elycia asked sitting next to me on my bed.

"Yeah" I answered. "I'm just nervous"

"Don't me nervous" she said. "Everything is going to be fine, I'll keep Derek under control."

I laughed. Elycia always lightens the mood when I'm feeling stressed.

"You look really pretty" Elycia said.

I had my favorite sun flower dress on and black combat boots on. I put half of my hair up in a bun the rest of it was in curly waves. (does that make sense?)

"Thanks" I said sounding kind of sarcastic. Elycia playfully hit me on the shoulder.

"No really thank you." I continued. "My mom has been ignoring me for almost three months now. It's nice to have someone who I can talk to about this. Who understands."

"You'll always have me, Hads" Elycia said and pulled me into a hug.

We heard an out burst of voices come from the living room.

"I guess your aunt and uncle are here". Elycia said and we both got up into the living room.

Once we walked in the room we saw Derek standing there with his parents and his brother Dillion.

"Hadster!" Dillion said running over and giving me a hug.

"Hey Dill pickle!" I said.

Dillion and I both laughed.

"I have definitely missed our cheesy nick names." he said.

"Likewise."

"Good too see you again!" Aunt Lynn said pulling me into a hug.

"Good to see you too!" I smiled.

"Hope you saved a hug for your old uncle." Uncle Ivan said.

"Of course I did!" I said giving him a hug too.

"Derek has been keeping us very updated about Les Miserables and we are so proud of you!" Aunt Lynn said.

The others murmured in agreement. I smiled and thanked them. There was a knock on the door. Seth.

"I'll get it" I said rushing to the door.

"All that excitement you'd think Santa was here" Derek joked. I ignored him.

I took a deep breath. I can do this. I smiled and opened the door. As soon as I opened the door my smile faded. I stood there in shock not knowing the right words to say.

"Mom? Dad?" I whispered.

"Hello, Hadley." my mother said stern.

"Hey sweetie" my dad said.

They didn't even hug me. I could hear the kindness in my dad's voice. Like he wanted to say more but couldn't. I wish I could hear some kind of emotion besides hate in my mom's voice. Derek rushed over to my side.

"You made it!" He sounded uncomfortable. So did I. "Come on in"

They walked passed me and made their way to the living room.

"You invited them?" I whispered so only Derek could hear. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"They told me they couldn't come. I thought if I didn't tell you it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I know you've been down about them not talking to you so I didn't want to make things worse. I never dreamed they'd show up unannounced." Derek defended.
