After a while of cleaning and organizing, I take out my diary and start writing. 'Dear diary, January 5th, 2017.'
There's so much I can write about. I could write about my dad. I could write about my mom. Hell, I could even write about the mysterious L.
Why was his name L anyway? Surely he has a different name besides L.T. Those at least have to be initials. Anyway, it isn't any of my business of what his name is, is it?
I put my diary after finishing out my log and put it on my desk. I head into the shower and clean off my body. My favorite song comes on and I start singing. 'Classic' by MKTO. "You're over my head, Um out of my mind. Think I was born in the wrong time; one of kind, living in a world gone plastic, baby you're so classic."
I continue to sing the words to the song and I hear a knock on the door. I quickly turn the shower off and wrap a towel around my body.
I run to the door and crack it open to where my head is only popping out. "Kaelyn? What's up?" She sighs. "It's my dad, it's his funeral and I didn't want to go alone." I quickly nod my head yes.
I invite Kaelyn to the hotel room. "I'll be right back, I just need to put something on really quick." She nods and I head my way into my room and shut my door and head towards the closet and quickly get dressed into something dark and nice and head out the door.
We walk into the elevator and wait until the buzzer rings and walk right out of the elevator. I head toward the snack station and pick up a water bottle and slip it into my bag. We head into the lobby and waved goodbye to Helda.
"Hey, deary, where are you going?" I sigh as Kaelyn heads into the Uber waiting outside. "Kaelyn's dad passed away and um, his funerals today and she wanted me to go with her, so she didn't have to go by herself." Helda nods and hugs me and I walk out of the lobby and open the back door to the Uber and sit next to Kaelyn.
I stare into the window watching traffic go by and birds fly and move my body towards Kaelyn. "So if you don't mind me asking, how did your dad pass away anyway? You don't have to answer if you're not comfortable answering." I ask. She starts sniffling. "Well uh, he had bad lungs. He smoked a lot and well he got lung cancer and um... he didn't make it." I frown. I bring Kaelyn into a hug and hold her tight. "I'm sorry Kaelyn." She starts to whimper quietly to herself and wipes her face.
We finally get the place where her dad's funeral is being held. I walk in with Kaelyn holding her hand and let her talk to a few family members. We walk into a room with her father's casket and we sit in the front row. There are not many people here but I hear Kaelyn make some sort of whimper sound. "Kaelyn, are you alright?" I say bringing her into a hug. "My mom.." she starts crying and choking on her words.
"My mom is here." I look around to see a lady in the back of the room standing, by herself looking towards Kaelyn and I. "Do you want to talk to her?" I ask. She shakes her head no. "I can't after what she did to my dad. And what she did to me."
I nod and bring Kaelyn into a hug. "It's going to be alright, I promise." She smiles slightly. "Thank you, Rebecca, for coming. I appreciate it." I nod. "I'm only a door away, and you know that. I always will be."
A couple of hours after sitting in grief for her father, the funeral finally ends.
We exit the place and head back into the Uber. Kaelyn tells the driver our location and she leans her head against my shoulder. I lay my head beside her head and wrap my arm around her to keep her company. "Thank you for coming with me, Becca. I know you already have so much going on."
"Kaelyn, it's okay. I'm glad I came and comforted you. You're a friend of mine. It's what friends do for each other. I'll always be here for you."
We finally reach the hotel and I wave to Helda and we head into the elevator crammed with gang guys. Whispers are coming from behind Kaelyn and I. I simply ignore them as the ding for the elevator rings to the floor we were getting on.
We quickly get out of the elevator and head to my hotel room. I open the door and lock it behind Kaelyn and I just in case any of them followed us on the way out. I order pizza and turn on the TV. I give Kaelyn the remote for the television and walk into the bathroom and use it quickly. I come back from the bathroom and watch Kaelyn flip through the channels and stops on the X factor. "That's a good show," I state. She smiles. "I use to watch this with my parents before they got divorced."
She watches the people perform and get criticized as I finish making the order for the pizza place.
After the pizza gets here we sat down at the dining table and eat our pizza.
After we're done eating, I wash up the dishes and say goodbye to Kaelyn.
I lock the door after she leaves and I head into my comfy bed and relax. I turn on my Spotify and get comfy in the bed.
About an hour later I yawn and I finally fall asleep.
*the next morning*
I wake up and yawn, and head over to the curtains and open them. It's finally Saturday and I run into my kitchen and eat a bowl of cereal.
I go to my closet and take out a black hoodie with black leggings and put the items of clothing on and tie my shoes on. I put my hair up in a messy bun and head out the door.
