Smoke.

Flames.

Burning wood.

Burning flesh.

The scents wafted through my nose while I ran. My house, along with my mother, were burning up. My mother's body stuck to the ceiling, flames licking her body. Her mouth looked like she wanted to scream, but couldn't. I felt tears flow as the image stuck in my brain. I gripped my fourteen year old sister's hand. The burning flesh scent wasn't just from my mother. My ankles were burnt, and my calves were getting burnt.

I gripped the hot door handle, and yanked it open, pushing my sister outside. I grabbed my keys and put them in her hand.

"Go wait in my car. I need to grab some stuff. I'll be back soon."

"But-"

"GO!"

Coraline followed my orders, and ran to my car. Instead of following with her, I looked back up the steps. They weren't yet caught in flames, but the downstairs portion was. I quickly ran up, going into my room. I grabbed my duffel bag, and shoved whatever I could from my closet, drawers and floor. The included clothing, my purse, shoes, and a few other things. I pushed it out the window, hearing a thud on the grass. I ran to Coraline's room, and grabbed the largest bag I could. I shoved a bunch of her clothing, and other things into her bag. I grabbed her own necessities. The bag flung out the window.

I heard the fire start crackling on the wood flooring of the stairs. I had little time. Just a few more things, and I'll be good. I ran back over to my room and grabbed another bag. Running to my bathroom, my breath became short. I grabbed as much as I could. Necessities. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, brushes, makeup, hairdryer, straightner, and hairties. Zipping up the bag, I ran back to Coraline's room. The stairs were engulfed in flames, and I was trapped. I looked at the window of Coraline's room. There was a little bit of a roof by the windows.. I quickly took my chance, seeing the flames engulf the doorway. The only way now, was to jump off the roof.

I slung the smaller bag over my shoulder, and walked to the edge of the roof. How could I do this? Thinking for a moment, I saw the burning rooms. The thought of grabbing the side of the roof, and swinging over popped into my head. I grabbed the side, and slowly swung over. I was maybe another ten feet above the grass.

One.

Two.

Three.

I let go. My feet hit with a small thud, but my ankle rolled. I winced, but got up nonetheless. I limped over to the other two bags, and walked as fast as I could to my car. Coraline sat with a worried look on her face, and her knee hoppig up and down.

"Keys." I stated.

She jumped a little, but handed me my keys. I ulocked the trunk, and tossed our stuff inside.

"We need to go to the police... Something," Coraline thought outloud.

"I know," I stated, turning the key in the ignition.

As soon as the car's engine rumbled to life, my foot stomped on the gas pedal. The car squealed, but quickly caught traction, sending us toward the police station.
