Chanel's POV
We had just got to Yaya's house. Everyone loves my Yaya, Rachel's just scared of her. I think my Yaya thinks Rachel's in a gang or something because she's been shot twice but she doesn't judge her. We walked in her house and of course she was in the kitchen.
"Yaya." I said and hugged her.
"Hey baby." She said and hugged all of us.
Me and my dad looked at the counter and we saw the bowl that the banana pudding was made in. We looked at each other and dipped our fingers in.
"Chanel, Corey, get your finger out that bowl." She said.
We rolled our eyes in our head. I don't know how she knew but she always did. My mom laughed as we went to sit in the living room. Next thing I know my grandma comes though the door and I saw some aunts and uncles. They was carrying pots and tin pans. Okay, how many people found out we were coming to Yaya's.
We ended up having a little party with the Carter side of my family. It was good to see everybody. We ended up in the backyard and music was playing. It was really fun. I finally sat down by Yaya.
"You done dreaded your hair?" She asked.
"No, not for real. They fake." I said.
"So what's this I hear about you talking back?" She said.
"Yaya." I said laughing.
"What you laughing for? Ain't nothing funny." She said. "Don't be biting the hand that feed you, you hear."
"Yes." I said.
"I know yo mama." She said. "She'd put you out. Best believe. Just cause you 18 now don't mean nothing."
I nodded.
"I hear you gonna be in a play too." She said.
"Yeah, my school doing Dreamgirls." I said.
"Alright, you make sure I have my ticket." She said.
"Front row." I said standing.
"Look at you looking like your mama." She said.
"Don't tell my daddy that." I said.
"What did he think was gonna happen? You thick just like your mama. He better get his gun." She said.
I laughed and went to go find my mom. She was sitting, just chilling with a drink.
"Where you been?" She asked.
"Talking with Yaya." I said. "She said I'm just like you."
"You are." She said taking a sip of her drink. "My mini-me. You got my shape and everything."
"That's what she said. She said daddy better go get his gun." I said.
She laughed.
I sat and talked with my mom as the sun went down. I could see Rachel talking to my Yaya. The boys were playing basketball and my dad was with my uncle's. This was a nice day.
*Day of Funeral*
Damien's POV
I was straighten my tie in the mirror. I was wearing a suit to Tammy's funeral. I still feel nothing. I don't feel the urge to cry and I don't feel upset. Chanel was coming for support but Ciera and Blue went to school.
"Damien, you ready?" I heard my mom yell.
"Yes!" I yelled.
I grabbed my phone and walked out my room. We went down to the car. The funeral was put together by Devon's dad I guess. It was a nice church. I met Devon outside.
