I sighed lazy laying around the lot. I was just laying on the old sofa staring up at the tree waiting for Dally to pick me up. I honestly didn't want to go to the Drive-in then Buck's but then Johnny could surely make me stay.

" Hey Drag Queen we're goin'" I sat up and saw Dally, Pony, and Johnny.

I scoffed," I'm too real to be a Drag."

I heard Pony mumble," Not lately." I stopped. I coughed and began to walk them following close behind me, that hurt. I don't know if he knew I heard him and I don't want him to.. because then he'll apologize.

"Hey Shortcake slow down you're going the wrong way!" I stopped and saw they turned right and were heading into the drugstore.

"Really Dal'? Could save your cigarettes until the movie?"

He glared picking up a box and a coke,"Shut your trap."

I smirked," Cassie want a coke?" I sighed wanting one, but this look doesn't look good unless you're super skinny so I said no. Diets' suck.

 "Nah I'll pass."

Ponyboy looked surprised, he knew I loved coke but didn't say anything. I guess things are still weird from.. the hallway. I cringed thinking about it, he hates me now. I can see it, I wish things were different.

Pony's Pov

We crossed Sutton and cut around behind Spencer's Special, the discount house, and chased two junior-high kids across a field for a few minutes; Cassie just stayed feet behind us laughing when the kids got away. Not like we would hurt them, but at least scare them a bit. By then it was dark enough to sneak in over the back fence of the Nightly Double drive-in movie. It was the biggest in town, and showed two movies every night, and on weekends four--- you could say you were going to the Nightly Double and have time to go all over town; great cover story for Darry.

We all had the money to get in--- it only costs a quarter if you're not in a car--- but Dally hated to do things the legal way. He liked to show that he didn't care whether there was a law or not, and just to show off.

Cassie went through the legal way because she was in a skirt, but Dally went around trying to break laws. We went to the rows of seats in front of the concession stand to sit down. Nobody else was there except two girls who were sitting down front. Dally eyed them coolly, then walked down the aisle and sat right behind them. I had a sick feeling that Dally was up to his usual tricks, and I was right. Cassie sat uncomfortably in her seat.

I'm still confused on Dal' and Cassie's relationship. She can't be his girlfriend, Dallas Winston can't be tied down but they are something because I can tell a hint of annoyance from Cassie when he talks about other girls. Deep down she is still Cassie and I don't think she knows the extent of her new character. I want to know what's wrong but I'll let her deal with it, I don't want to get on her bad side. She said she hated Johnny ealier.. so it must be bad.

He started talking, loud enough for the two girls to hear. He started out bad and got worse. Dallas could talk awful dirty if he wanted to and I guess he wanted to then. I felt my ears get hot. Two-Bit or Steve or even Soda would have gone right along with him, just to see if they could embarrass the girls, but that kind of kicks just doesn't appeal to me. I sat there, struck dumb, and Johnny left hastily to get a Coke.

I wouldn't have felt so embarrassed if they had been greaser girls--- I might even have helped old Dallas. But those two girls weren't our kind. They were tuff-looking girls--- dressed sharp and really good-looking. They looked about sixteen or seventeen. One had short dark hair, and the other had long red hair. The redhead was getting mad, or scared. She sat up straight and she was chewing hard on her gum. The other one pretended not to hear Dally. Dally was getting impatient. He put his feet up on the back of the redhead's chair, winked at me, and beat his own record for saying something dirty. She turned around and gave him a cool stare.
