Cassie's Pov
Dally grabbed my wrist pulling me from the Drive-in," Dal'! Dal'! " I tugged my wrist repeatedly," Let, go! Dallas!" He kept his death grip on me and stopped pulling to him and used his other hand to grip my other small wrist.
"Cade, shut your trap."
" Dallas-"
" Listen to me!" I quickly shut up scared of what he could do," Shut. Up. We're going to Buck's, get in the car." He let go of me abruptly, and went to the other said of a red car I didn't realize was there. Shakily I opened the passenger door and got in. The car ride to Buck's was silent, and all I managed to think about was Ponyboy and that girl, Sherry. She's too old for him, right?
Dally stopped the car in front of the rambunctious bar and got out, I sighed and got out as well. We went inside and it reeked of alcohol and smoke along with the banging of Rock and Roll music. An hour passed by of Dally playing pool, beer in hand. I got a little bored watching and wandered off to the bar and asked for a diet coke," Hey little lady you shouldn't be here," a drunk guy slurred.
I took a sip of my coke," So? Your not my dad."
He approached me slowly," I'm old enough to be," I nearly coughed from the thick odor of Yeager. "Wanna dance babydoll?" I cringed. He said he's old enough to be my dad then asks to dance?
"No thank you, my boyfriends over there" I lied. He glared, I turned to go back to Dally.
Then I felt a smack!
I gasped and looked at him in disgust," Come on Doll" that's it.
I swung and punched him in the jaw," Don't ever call me that!" I stormed off pushing my way through people dancing, grinding, and making out back to the pool tables.
Confusion washed over me until I felt hands go over my eyes," Guess who, Rolly?"
I sighed," Hm.. not that drunk guy who said he's old enough to be my dad... soooo a drunk that's old enough to be my grandpa?" I said sarcastically.
He scoffed," Come on."
"Dally."
"Okay then. " He turned me," And what?"
"Nothing." I gasped when I heard The Jackson 5 play over the loud speakers. I took his hand pulled him to dance," No, Doll, I don't do that." I pouted and danced anyway with his hands. He laughed watching me make a fool of myself, I felt high... probably from the smoke and drugs in the air. Once the song ended Dally yelled over the music," Follow me!" Which wasn't a problem because he practically dragged me up the stairs. He puled me into a room, his room I assumed.
"Listen Cade, you're doing well." I nodded," I think its time for the next level," the next level?
"What's that?" I asked.
" Sex."
I was at loss for words," What?"
"You're not a virgin so you'll be fine."
"What? Dallas, no." He closed in on me a kissed me intently, he got right to work and took off his shirt. I didn't move, I was scared. Why did I have to do this? His hands roamed and came to my waistband he tugged on them, I put my hands on his pushing them off," Dally no! Why do I even have to do this?!"
He growled," It will mature you, now f*&+ing cooperate." He pushed me onto the bed and began undoing my belt sliding my skirt off. No no no no. Then a miracle happened, there was a knock at the door. Dally ignored it but the knock only became louder. "Dammit!" He cursed and climbed off of me. He opened the door," What the hell you want?"
"Two boys are outside asking for you." Dallas huffed and walked out. I scurried and put my skirt back on pulling up the zipper and buckling the belt. Minutes later Pony and Johnny stumbled into the room, "You'll die of pneumonia 'fore the cops ever get you." Dally scolded.
"Get that sweat shirt off." He threw a towel at Ponyboy. "Dry off and wait here. At least Johnny's got his jeans jacket. You ought to know better than to run away in just a sweat shirt, and a wet one at that. Don't you ever use your head?" He sounded so much like Darry that Pony stared at him.
"What happened?" I asked nervously still shaky from minutes before. "Johnny killed a soc" Pony blurted. I covered my mouth with a gasp," No Johnny, no no no no..."
Johnny sat on the bed shaking his head. " I didn't mean too Cassie.. they were gonna drown Pony.. Wish I had me a weed." I hugged him tightly. I could feel his rapid heart beat thumping through his chest.
I looked at Pony and slightly blushed when he wasn't wearing a shirt. I stood up and hugged him as well, getting a little wet but I could care less. His knees were shaking as he finished drying off, sitting there in his jeans. I got off of him and walked back to the bed," Wait, Cass, what were you doing in here?" I face got hot but before I could answer Dally entered again.
Dally appeared, carefully shutting the door behind him. "Here"--- he handed Johnny a gun and a roll of money--- "the gun's loaded. For Pete's sake, Johnny, don't point the thing at me. Here's fifty bucks. That's all I could get out of Merril tonight He's blowin' his loot from that last race."
"Pony, do Darry and Sodapop know about this?" Dal' asked.
Pony shook his head and Dally sighed," Boy howdy, I ain't itchin' to be the one to tell Darry and get my head busted."
"Then don't tell him," Pony blurted. He was scared of working Soda but I think he could care less about Darry. I honestly don't understand why they don't get along, I mean, I do, but still. Johnny takes care of me but I don't hate him.
"Here!" Dally handed Pony a shirt about 10 million sizes too big. "It's Buck's--- you an' him ain't exactly the same size, but it's dry." He handed him his worn brown leather jacket with the yellow sheep's-wool lining. "It'll get cold where you're going, but you can't risk being loaded down with blankets." I was scared, where are they going?
He started buttoning up the shirt over his chest, It was way to big.
"Hop the three-fifteen freight to Windrixville," Dally instructed. "There's an old abandoned church on top of Jay Mountain. There's a pump in back so don't worry about water. Buy a week's supply of food as soon as you get there--- this morning, before the story gets out, and then don't so much as stick your noses out the door. I'll be up there as soon as I think it's clear. Man, I thought New York was the only place I could get mixed up in a murder rap."
At the word "murder," Johnny made a small noise in his throat and I shuddered.
"I'm coming." I announced.
"No Cassie" Johnny said timidly.
"Johnny, If it were me you'd come with me!"
"This is different, I would never get in that situation" he scolded. I huffed," I love you, I have to come!"
"No kid." Dallas said," The more people go, the more you'd get caught."
I spun to Johnny," Why don't you turn yourself in?! I can't stay here without you John.."
Johnny shook his head," No, I'd never survive jail.. and I can't pull you in this." I shook in fright," Please don't leave..."
Dally walked Johnny and Pony back to the door, turning off the porch light before they stepped out. "Git goin'!" He messed up Johnny's hair. "Take care, kid," he said softly. I shook in place as I watched them leave.
"Sure, Dally, thanks." Pony said, he gave me a reassuring nod then ran into the darkness.
