TW: Blood, physical abuse, verbal abuse.

I closed my eyes as I prepared myself for the impact. I felt the blade of the knife against my cheek as blood poured out.

'Stop..'

'What was that, Virgil? Do you want me to keep going?'

I couldn't do anything except nod.

'Good.'

Roman POV

I tightened my grip on my sword as I prepared to strike the final blow on the dragon witch. I was inches away from her when a loud beeping started. I looked around in confusion. I was in the middle of the forest, where was that noise coming from?.

When I next opened my eyes I was back in my bedroom. I looked around.

No forest and no dragon witch. Unless you counted my sister. Half asleep, I looked around trying to find the source of the noise that had awoken me from my dream. Suddenly, my brain woke up.

The noise was from my alarm clock.

I grabbed my phone and checked the date.

September 1, 2018.

It was the first day of school. Great. I slowly pushed my duvet off, trying to savour the warmth before being forced out. I got up and dragged my feet as I looked around for some clean clothes. I grabbed a lightly stained white T-shirt, some ripped jeans and my red school jacket. I turned around to look out my window, when I caught a hideous sight. My hair was standing up on all ends and looked like a hedgehog. I grabbed my hairbrush and started trying to tame the wild look. I need my hair to be perfect before I put my makeup on, or else it could throw off the whole look. Once I was satisfied with it, I grabbed my makeup bag and walked down the hallway to the bathroom. I knocked on the door to make sure that no one, especially Maddie, was using it already. When I got no reply, I pushed the door open and walked in to face the mirror. I had gotten my eyeshadow out before I noticed the figure standing in front of me.

I stared in shock as he rolled his eyes at me, and then spoke as if I couldn't hear him.

"Stupid, Princey, doing his makeup again." He said.

I stared back at him. He had brown hair, not unlike mine, black eyeshadow and a purple and black hoodie on. And he seemed to be inside the mirror. I turned around to make sure that he wasn't just standing behind me, but no, he was inside the mirror. As I kept staring, I did the only logical thing I could think of.

"I-I'm sorry?" I said. He froze like a deer in headlights.

"Can y-you can hear me?" He said. I nodded.

"Can you see me?" He asked. Again, I nodded.

"I-I, oh my god, I can't believe this." He said.

"How often do people see you?" I asked out of curiosity. He looked me dead in the eyes and replied.

"Never."
