TW: Not really much in this chapter, but happy tears.

I had saved her.

I kept telling myself that.

She was safe now.

I smiled to myself and the door opened.

She walked in holding a little bottle of some sort and a rag. Then, she polished the mirror. I don't know why, because as far as I'm concerned, she doesn't know that I exist, but she polished the mirror.

And right when she was leaving, I swear that I heard her mumble something under her breath.

"Thank you..."

Roman POV

"VIRGIL." I yelled. He didn't respond.

"VIRGIL."

Then, he disappeared.

I felt my eyes start to water.

"Roman? What are you yelling at? Who's Virgil?" I spun around to see Maddie and Ishi standing in the doorway, looking at me with a concerned look in their eyes.

"He's gone." I said in a hollow voice. Maddie stared at me in confusion.

"Who?" She asked.

"Virgil." I replied. She shook her head, blinked a few time, then continued to stare at me.

"Roman," Ishi started in a gentle voice, "Who was Virgil?"

My breath caught in my throat as I answered.

"H-he was my friend, and now he's gone, and I never got to tell him," I choked as I continued speaking.

"That I loved him..."

Ishi and Maddie stared at me, their eyes glistening with newly formed tears.

"Roman, I-I'm so sorry, I-, how did he disappear?" Maddie whispered.

"I-I don't know, one moment, he was there, the next, he was gone." I said, gesturing towards the mirror as I spoke.

"Was he in the mirror?" Ishi asked. I built up the courage to look her in the eyes and nodded. She inhaled sharply and looked away.

"And now he's gone, and what if he never comes back?" I asked, my voice rising into a shout. I fought back tears as I continued.

"And what if, what if he doesn't remember me, or what if something bad happened to him, or what is he got to him-"

"Roman. I'm sure he's going to be fine." Ishi said in a soothing voice. I looked away and sobbed.

"Leave." I whispered to them. I heard a few shuffles of feet walking out and then the door closing, followed by some quiet mumbles. As they left, I was hit with the harsh reality.

Virgil was gone.

I grumbled as I became conscious again. My back hurt badly, which was weird. My bed was usually really comfortable. I froze as I felt cold tiles under my hand. I was in the bathroom. Memories from yesterday came back and I rushed over to the mirror. No one was in it. I let out a shaky sigh and sat down, letting the sadness take over. I squeezed my eyes shut in attempt to block out the tears, but they kept flooding out.

Had Virgil just been a hallucination?

No, right?

I had seen him, and talked to him. He had just disappeared. I whipped my head up as a knocking started on the door.
