The next morning, Ivy has called me over to her house. It was Saturday, the day of relaxing. And yet Ivy wanted to break into an abandoned storage unit, clean it out, and make it their official office space.
"(Y/N)," Ivy has said, "it's not a crime if nobody catches us."
"God sees us."
"Don't get religious on me, Gansey."
I run downstairs, eager to get this over with. As I'm about to open the door, someone coughs. I sigh and slowly turn around, only to find Noah looking at me with a triumphant smile. "I caught you!"
I sigh again, and start working on my explanation. "Noah, do not tell the boys what I'm doing. Ivy and I are going to do something, um... illegal. Well, not exactly illegal. We're just possibly breakingand enteringintoanabandonedstorageunit."
Even though I said that last part really fast, Noah still understood it. He smirked. "Well, wouldn't it just be a shame if Ronan found out. Or, even worse, Gansey."
I crossed my arms. "Okay, pale boy, what is it that you want?"
"Take me with you."
I laugh a bit. Noah, a frail, little little boy, wants to commit a crime. Ronan is probably a bad influence on him.
"Come on, then."
Noah's smile widens and he follows me out of Monmouth Manufactures.

"I can't believe you brought a witness," Ivy said as she took a hammer out of her bag. Ivy drove me and Noah to the storage unit a little farther than Aglionby. We were now chilling outside it while she was about to break the lock in it.
I look ahead of us, where a small cottage sits. An older woman sat in the window, staring at us. She probably thought we were a bunch of thugs.
"Hey Ivy," I warned, "there's an old lady watching you. What if she calls the cops?"
"Relaaaaax, (Y/N). We'll just tell them that we forgot our key and had to resort to brute force."
Noah looked at Ivy and back to me. "I like her."
Ivy shot him a thumbs up and smashed her hammer onto the key lock, making it burst to pieces. Ivy flashed a smile and called us both over to help her lift up the door-thingy. With our combined strengths, the door lifted up, and the inside was quite anticlimactic. All it was was a desk, an office chair, and a few piles of junk on the floor.
Ivy held out her arms and began a monologue. "Lady and gentleman, welcome to Mischief Inc!"
"This isn't very fun," Noah said, a bit disappointed.
Ivy turned toward him dramatically. "Fun? This isn't supposed to be fun, newby. What we're doing is very illegal and we could get caught at any moment."
After she said this, she began laughing at her own statement. I sigh. Maybe she's a worse influence than Ronan is...
A sudden siren interrupted us. Ivy's eyes widened. "Oh, crap."
Ivy looked outside and saw a police cruiser heading toward the unit.
She took a deep breath and turned toward us. "Okay, time to run."
Noah and I looked at each other and sprinted off after Ivy, who had already started. Man, Gansey is going to kill me...
We keep running, and the police car is still after us. I call out to Ivy, "Maybe we should just stop!"
Ivy looked behind. "No way!"
I rolled my eyes and looked beside me. Noah was in step with me, but he didn't look out of breath at all. How?!
We finally came to a high fence that limited our time to think.
Ivy immediately said, "(Y/N), climb up the fence."
"What?"
"I've seen you climb fences, now do it!"
Without questioning her any further, I put my foot on the fence and loop my fingers through the holes. After a couple of pulls up, my hand suddenly gets a sharp pain in it. I let out a yelp and fall off the fence. I land in my backside on the grass, which HURT.
"Well, kids, you really gave me a chase."
I stood up and looked who was talking. A man in a police uniform stood taller than us, hands on his hips. There was something familiar about him...
Ivy looked at the ground and crossed her arms. "Hey, dad."
Oh.
Oh.
The officer sighed and put a hand on his temple. "How many times do—"
"Tell me the lecture when I get home. Just drive these two back to their house."
He sighed and turned around, signaling us to follow.
My hand hurt. My behind hurt. And now my brain hurt, because Ronan was probably going to have a cow when we got home.
