My life in Fading Lights is simple and ordinary, well as ordinary as a werewolf life can be. My pack is located in a forest away from the city but near another pack that is also located in this forest, Moonlit Stars. The only thing is that our packs are rivals, ever since birth we are told never to go near their borders and that the pack members are not to be trusted, they are our enemy.

I live with my parents but I might as well just say that I live by myself, my parents have never been there for me it always feels like I'm alone in my house even when they are in the same room as me. Even when I was little they were never present and when I tried to have a relationship whith them they would turn me down and shut me up.

I don't know who I would be or how my life would be like if I didn't grow up with my best friend, Alice Meadows. Like most friendship start we met at school, we were next to each other so naturally, we became friends ever since. Her parents, Nathan and Danielle, were more of a parental figure to me and I spent every day at her house not that my parents would even notice.

As we got older my visits became less frequent especially once she found her mate but we still are close as always. Every wolf is mated with another, they are chosen for each other since birth by the moon goddess but the instinct to find one another starts as early as 16 but it still isn't guaranteed that they will find each other. Alice and James didn't find each other until she was 19. The way you know a certain person is your mate is by the scent they give you, the smell is your favorite scent and only you can smell it.

Today started out as a normal day until I found myself running through the woods by someone I don't know. I've been chased out of my pack and now I'm running to god knows where but all I know is that I can't let him catch me. Although I'm not going as fast as I could be going as my wolf I refuse to transform not wanting to be naked in the middle of the woods when I'm forced to change back into my human form. I stop to take a breath only to notice that I don't hear footsteps anymore, only an unfamiliar scent.

As I'm about to turn to go back to my pack wherever that may be I'm stopped when I hear multiple growls making me turn around to see 5 wolfs approaching me.

Great, I was chased to the border of our enemy pack. I honestly have no idea how the feud between my pack and theirs started or why it's still happening today. Ever since I was born I was told stories about them and was to NEVER cross the border because their packs give no mercy, they will torture and kill any trespassers.

If I want at least a chance to get out of this alive I have to fight these wolves but I can't do that in my human form so I shift into my wolf ripping my clothes off in the process of the transformation.

The relationship between a wolf and oneself is very important it is all psychological but very effective if we don't get along we may be in control of each other.

"Is it my turn to take over?" my wolf asks.

"Yes it is"

I let her take the lead, whenever we are in a fight I let her take control because as a wolf everyone has better instincts. We growl at the other wolfs as they circle around me, I will have to get through all of them if I have a chance to survive. A wolf's most vulnerable place is in their neck and that's what they have been trying to attack but because I'm smaller and faster I get out before they can get to my neck.

There's three down, two more to go, I can do this. We attack one of the wolves but the last wolf has the advantage where he bites my neck close to my throat telling me to surrender the fight. I try to claw him but it doesn't work he's strong, at least I put up a good fight. Now I'm unable to move as my adrenaline is starting to decrease and I'm starting to feel the pain from my injuries.
